So regarding the FP event. Will taking a contract to either fight for or against Jade Falcons be most likely to yield the most action?

As someone in steiner atm, this is accurate.

edit to elaborate:

I've been all over, and thus far the worst experience I've had in this game was pugging in clan wolf when all the big units were in FRR. Most of my teammates acted like they'd never played. You had to herd cats nonstop just to lose 12-48. My friend and I spent ages getting to rank 10.

I didn't think it could get any worse.

I joined steiner and was proven wrong. I've never seen more friendly champion mechs, and elite founders with LRM/machine gun atlases. Usually when pugging in CW your best bet is to attack and hope for skittles, because defending you'll generally end up being the skittles.

But in steiner territory it's the other way around. If you want even a remote chance at a win you have to defend someone elses space and sacrifice firestarters to the matchmaker god and hope against hope that your team WILL be skittles because you'll have a FAR better chance.

I guess they think no one is playing because there is no event....

How out of touch they are still to this day.

You know... i don't know what is up with clan jade falcon.

Since the beginning of CW the following has been the norm:

Jade falcon: Highly skilled mechwarriors and high number of DBags. Players in this faction are highly under the influence of an old battletech cartoon series.
Wolf and Ghost bears: Scrubs usually choose these two factions... no idea why?... less toxic players maybe?
Smoke Jaguar: Highly skilled players... not as many DBags as CJF.

Davion: Scrub magnet
Liao: Where the cool guys are.
Marik: Forgotten part of the Innersphere
Kurita: Good concentration of skill plus a little bit of DBags
Steiner: Good players, less toxic behavior than kurita
FRR: Highly skilled players. Faction of choice for jade falcons when they want to play IS.

Edit: Dafuq!... I'm jade falcon!

What usually happens is that a big unit will take a contract with a faction, and then the other units join that faction so they don't have to fight the big unit, then pretty much everybody else follows suit.

I read along, giggling, nodding in agreement.

Saw that part....looked at my NEW UNITS jersey and was like....Oh.

Disappointed with this event, as it screwed over the southern houses. I can do only so much leading a pug team against an organized Clan team one after another. My pugmates appreciated my drop calls but it just feels like dashing an egg against a rock. Posted Image

It was a lot of [-MS-].

As for Clan Wolf being a noob magnet, SWOL was the largest unit in MWO and they would take pretty much anyone that logged on somewhat consistently, but I don't think that is a bad thing necessarily.

Being in a several hundred person unit gives a smaller (compared to the entire playerbase) pool of people to frequently play with, and it also gets a lot of new players through the door with CW and group play in general. There is a lot of disparity among player skill in a unit that large. It might not be the most efficient way to cultivate a super l33t reputation, but the atmosphere was very welcoming and healthy which I find is ultimately more effective in making the game enjoyable for more people. If nothing else, a game ought to be enjoyable.

Timezone wise, I play in the American evenings/late nights, an there seem to be more Falcons fielding than Stieners, something like 68 to 52 right now, so higher chance of getting drops on the IS side. (Numbers are prolly larger due to event.)

That said, word is it's better to be fighting with us than against us. (I respect all those willing to drop against us an prove them wrong.=.)

The funny thing is, with a few more competent pugs you would have wiped those CWI guys clean of the map Posted Image

Haven´t been able to play yet, but either today or tomorrow I´ll drop in. I just hope some of the Falcons on my friends list will be online. Believe it or not, Falcon has its share of scrubs too Posted Image

Yeah this kinda sucks for the effected loyalists / contracted mercs.

Would be cool if, with events like this, that they either relaxed the moving factions costs or enabled allies so that all could jump in and fight. (or had a set of event only planets to fight for) - just for the length of the event. (Especially since it seems to be a part of the game that could use some encouragement)

Finding a decent pug team in itself is a challenge though, especially during my time zone.

The event has some issue, scouted twice, got a convincing win 12 intel points for team and escaped, then got wiped but did some damage.

Guess which game got a score of over 50.
Mech-------MScore--Damage----C-Bills------XP-------Intel
HBK-IICO----69---------136--------62427-----121--------0
HBK-IICO----27-----------11------137241----1504--------4

Seems scoring is a little off here.

Also did they mess up on the scouting match victories? 20 vs 15 for the played, especially when you look at the numbers for invasion.
