I'm having a hard time convincing a A Certain Player that he should not bring a LRM Kintaro to scouting missions.

It just means the other 3 of us suckers who drop with him get stuck brawling 3 vs 4 while he sits at the back, asking that we "hold our locks" while spamming away pointlessly.

Could others please offer their opinions in this thread. Then I will share the link with him and perhaps the weight of multiple opinions will count for something.

"As a clanner who absolutely hates scouting but loves winning, please never show him this thread. Let him keep bringing LRM's."

That should be the only argument he needs. The enemy wants him to keep bringing them. Saying anything else just starts a flame war between people who like them and people who don't. I am tired of those so I just tell all my enemies to bring all the LRM's they want.

I love it when I see a lurmer in scouting. I run a Nova S with 8xspl, 3xams, and overheat module with 30% AMS rate of fire quirk on the mech. Its built to cut down on srms but when I actually run into a lurmer its hilarious. After im done with the brawlers I just casually stroll over and kill them and theres nothing they can do about it.

On a sidenote its possible that this guy has no idea how to brawl. He doesnt want to do it but he wants the rewards for the event. I would urge him to try out brawling. Either that or sit back and watch him get his face kicked in then maybe he will learn.

I wish I came up against LRM boat opponents, instead of having to carry them on my team.

Best use for someone taking LRMs to scouting is to just stand behind him the whole time. His best possible use is as a shield. Tell him he can bring LRMs, that's great - but you're going to be right behind him.

One of the last CW events we had, think it was the scouting focused one - not sure.

There was one pilot that always took Trial LRM Treb and our group always seemed to face him. Well after 6-7 matches of legging/stripping him down to nothing and leaving him to hop around on one leg he finally learned his lesson.

LRM has to be the absolute worst weapon system to bring in scouting missions.

If your friend can't brawl with AC/SRM then maybe swap to clan and let him drive a Streak crow. It is still a sub par weapon choice compared to higher DPS weapons with more focused damage but infinitely more useful than LRM. Streak is easy for new players to use and great for people who have low frame rates or high ping.

IS AC 20 is utterly addictive and beats the snot out of clan skill crows. If you can get your mate into the right build and get a couple of games under his belt he won't go back. Dare I say a Yen Lo as an early Christmas/birthday present.

Good luck. I feel your pain.

I tried the LRM Kintaro myself in scouting. And in some specific circumstances it works great. Rhese circumstances are:

- You drop with a team

- you have to protect intel

- on Polar Highland

This might be a bit radical, but you could simply refuse to group up with him.

Or maybe team up with him until he befalls an "accident".

He's not my friend! I just keep getting repeatedly stuck with him in PUG teams for some reason Posted Image

See above. I don't have the option, unfortunately Posted Image

I was really tempted to help him experience an accident directly after the match where he claimed his 250 LRM damage was instrumental to the team's win ;)

I took LRMs to scouting with my LRM raven 3l

the team I was dropping with was not to happy but after I explained things they laughed it off

some people have to try every weapon and every combination of weapons

so when I say don't bring LRMs I am not just blowing smoke

also I might take LRMs again to test out the meta never know

it was fun running my LRM raven lol

Oh I remember that C-LRM80 hunchback on caustic valley.
I will treasure the expression it's pilots face made when my AC20/3xSRM4 Cent hugged him forever.
Please - do this more often.
Everyone should know better than to fire LRMs on a light mech - half of that can be transfered on the mobile mediums.
If one is sidestepping from the "sane" "everyone" pack one should learn the reasons for this the hard way.
Aside of that - PGI makes an FP event and gives the IS a crappy LRM boating trial trebuchette(either that or the 2xPPC 1xMed L. vindicator)...
If I have no medium mechs I can perusade myself to try see any reason in doing that...
It's still stupid as hell though.
Better trial mechs for the new IS players when there's a FP event next time please.

"But they can go play with clans if they're not loyalist/in a IS unit" - yeaaa...
And how does that improve the IS state, Long Tom consistency and stuff huh?

Due event I bring LRM on scout mission sometime because i am not much a light pilot it's ok on normal matches but on light vs light my pc sometime can't keep up so i resort to LRM's
HBK-IIC-B
HBK-IIC-B

Depends on team but often it works just fine infact it works hell alot more for people who que up with randoms.

You miss a person in the brawl?it's 3vs4 so what? try to use LOS some more kite some more drag the fight
because LRM fire support will make up tenfold for the body missing in brawling
You'll see those amazing oh so good perfect fit light scout mechs will drop like a fly when they get hit by few dozen missles at worst they'll focus LRM guy and you'll get some free damage off it's ofthen a win win condution.
ofcourse you win some you lose some but i detest to hear salty comments of a young guy who couldn't even pull out a fifty damage.. Posted Image

I believe in Vietnam that was called 'fragging'.

I think I've seen said LRM Kintaro a few times.

It's not even funny., it's just sad and disheartening for whoever is unfortunate enough to be paired with this person.

... and thus Seal Team 6 was born. 6 pugs deciding that LRMs was the way to bomb all the mechs...

You know how this story ends.
