The LongTom is ridiculous. Get rid of it or fix it. It's broken AF in the present moment, and it's destroying Faction Warfare. You are going to get new players who are just coming into this game, to NEVER play FW again because of this BS game mechanic. The forum warriors can claim I'm QQ'ing all they want. This is a BS mechanic and it has destroyed faction play.
*Peace, and have fun
*Having fun and being at peace can not be accomplished while LongTom is present in faction play. Please consider switching to a different game while PGI screws around making new mechs for a broken game mode.

Nope, the good players and forum warriors totally agree with you.
It makes FW boring and takes space bucks right out of your pocket.

I don't know about you just QQing, but since it came out I've played in maybe 8 to 10 drops with it in the game at all (out of 240 games, which is much less than alot of folks) but it does need something done, however they did scale the damage back. Personally I'd like to see it only allowed to drop once maybe twice in a drop but allow the team that owns it be able to select the location 15 secs prior to it hitting, more like a real Spotter/Forward observer role for some light mech. That way at least it's not just randomly dropping on friendly mechs because of that one light that's running through them at 150kph.

Damage scale back got reversed.
It does about 1650 damage to each mech in the drop zone, scaling out to 300. Which means at 200m it's still doing about 550 damage to your mech. Which is to say it destroys every mech within 270m of the smoke and cripples everything from 270-290m, 290-300 are hit like an arty strike.
Yes. It's that terrible of a design.

That sounds like exemplary QA from PGI.
It's that or a secret beta test to see if the original design was actually bad (hint: duh).

Good Evening,
So before i get to the meat and potatoes of the subject, i would like to mention a few things. This is truly an enjoyable game. The game styles and the way it is laid out, provides for interesting challenges. Those challenges should come from the Players playing the game, and how they interact with the environment you have built for them. As it stands now, having played on both sides of the coin with Long Tom. If you have it, you will have a boring but quick match. You will struggle to get any real decent damage, as most of the mechs are destroyed by the Program. If you do not have Long tom, you will just get ready to start a forward assault and it drops it. Between 2-12 players have been killed by it on the teams i have been on. So you drop again and just get up to the point of a forward assault and it hits again. This single game mechanic is responsible for more people saying they are done playing FW till they fix it. Seasoned and unseasoned characters all in aggreance, that they are done with FW. Now this might have been your goal?? I do question a move to take a game that already has a pretty serious learning curve, and then amplify it with the overwhelming *** stomping the long tom provides. This is teaching any new players (potential spending customers) that this game is about extreme advantage over disadvantage. Rather than i just need to practice enough and i will eventually get enough gear and be skilled enough to play in FW.
I have been playing this game since 12-2015. I have spent money on mechs, mech credits, and premium time. I can honestly tell you that i enjoy playing in Quick Plays, i was looking forward to really getting into FW. As things stand right now, i have no desire to play it at all. In fact it has kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. After 1100 hours of game time played, i am actually play and looking at other games.
Please fix this broken system.
Thank you.
