I've never seen someone intentional fire on a DC. They're common (probably over half of games I'm in has atleast one player not connect, DC or connect late) and I figured people are just used to it and carry on.
AFKs who are AFK for the whole or most of the match do really tick me off though. I understand if you've got RL stuff that is distracting you from the game, but if you're going to be AFK for most or all of the match, then don't press launch or cancel your search. They're basically screwing over their team and it's bad. While I have ****ed about some I've seen in games, I've never actually gone as far as shooting them however even if they may deserve it.
There is a report function, tell people via voip or all chat and team chat to all report him for aiding the enemy, move on. There is no reason to ever shoot a teammate intentionally. If someone is intentionally shooting you and is your team mate let them kill you even after telling them to stop you must ignore them and focus on doing what damage you can, hell, take the time to practice rolling damage. If you strike back, and more importantly if you kill them it goes against you in PGI's automated penalty system, let the trolls, hot heads, and whatever else kill you, rack up a lot of complaints and get banned. If you can't stand ignoring a teammate shooting you with the intent of damaging or killing you then you need to step away and re-evaluate things.
I do think that team damage needs to have higher penalties, and I have recently had a string of bad luck with TKing, I thought I had a clear shot but there was smoke and I should have waited instead of being greedy, as well as friendly component destroyed, I was re positioning and had a cheetah run into me and his leg came off. But, I am willing to take the penalty. However, it needs to be more focused on players destroying friendly components with doing a % amount of the damage that was required to destroy said component. This way a gentle graze of a medium laser doing fractional damage to a friendly's exposed cherry red arm doesn't penalize you like you saw a friendly atlas and decided he didn't need that arm at the beginning of the game.
People intentionally doing more than a quarter of a components armor or internal structure should get a hefty penalty so those situations where you graze a friendly and they die or lose a part is just friendly fire and counts as a small damage penalty. However, doing a quarter of armor or internal structure health to the mech or a mech component will make you instantly incur the cool down penalty currently for killing a teammate and doing excessive team damage. Because, seriously, intentionally doing team damage is a terrible thing to do that warrants an aiding the enemy report and a global ban from playing for a minute with repeated offenses leading to suspension of your IP, CC, and Account for a week minimum.
