The Zeus was designed as a Sniper - never as a Brawler
Anyhow its ability to hit and run was exceptional -

So I empower the ability to strike and fade
ZEU-9S2(L)

30 dmg pinpoint almost synchrony - plus the 12 SRMs to finish the job.
Its Achilles heel are the SRMs . the right arm is huge and a perfect bullet sponge - not so much ammunition.

Its not designed to be super great for CW, but it is a decent learning assault for the newbies. Sufficient long-range missile punch with just enough self defense to make it so you're not just a missile boat. A decent all-round light assault. Its not geared for meta play tho, so i doubt it'll get chosen, especially since it doesnt exactly have a sacrificial side. But a full armor load as well as a STD engine and CASE means that you can afford to make a few mistakes before you explode.

Throwing out a second build for dakka fans: ZEU-6S
AC5 2t ammo, UAC5 3t ammo, 3xLL, XL345, 14 DHS. Left corner poke/DPS and hope you don't get shot back... +17 ST quirks should help a bit with survivability.

A well balanced build for the ZEU-5S, able to engage at range as well as brawl in close quarters. 3 srm4 + artemis (because what's the 5S without the Fist of God?), and three large lasers. Not overly fast with just the 320std, but the good thing about this build (unlike some of the more lopsided Zeuses) is that it can keep fighting and doing decent damage with a shoulder blown off, so an XL is a no-no.

I got three Zeuses to play CW with, and after extensive tinkering this was the most effective build I found for any of them. It also performs well in quick play

Here's my silly little Zeus. It's more entertaining than I ever really expected from it.

ZEU-6T

3x ASRM-6
3x LPL
350XL

The build works on both the 5S and 6T Zeus, I'm not sure whether the mobility quirks and added structure are better than the missile quirks.

The typical Meta Zeus.... i don't like it although it is was very very capable (duno how things are after he got fat)

BAP to take full potential of the LBX, balanced between speed and heatsinks

ZEU-5S

Problem with Meta Champions is that they are meta.....so don't meta on your Champions (simple as that)
(better to take the pinpoint Zeus above)

Very low Spread make this SRM Alpha an almost Pinpoint 36dmg Hit. Its like double AC20 without the Ghost heat. Just epic :D

A rescaled Zeus??
No. XL and Zeus do not go together. The only reliable strenght of Zeus is that he can be build one sided and you have a complete dead and quirked side to tank (5S). And this make the 5S (3LPL + UAC5, or 3ERLL + Gaus) to the best Zeus, 9S (3LPL +3 MPL) as second.

But your build may be not viable for CW, but in QP sure funny to play :-) I like such not meta-mechs to.

XL380 Engine for a top speed of 76.9, 82.7 with speed tweak.

Too much laser vomit today, gotta give the new players some other builds to play with, and this is the most successful non-laser build.

Here's the build I prefer Posted Image Take a Zeus 6S and make him better. Upgraded LRM and UAC5, more ammo, more armor, +AMS *BOOM*. Three weapon groups:

(1) UAC5 + LL for long-range direct-fire
(2) LRM20 for long-range indirect
(3) 2 ML for short rang
