GHR-5H - 3LPL 3ML Xl340 3JJ

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f1b906de81c84ee

Alternately if you think its a bit warm for new players, lose the ML from the CT and pad the armour back up a bit. (since it lost 10% energy heat gen in the last quirk pass)

I keep the LPL's Right sided for better peeking and one on the arm for taking out pesky UAV's quickly.

Simple weapon groups
1: Left click 3ML
2: right click 3LPL
3: Arm LPL for UAV shooting

Well, I want to throw in a STD-Engine in here for reasons of "why not?"

Fast brawler with additional energy range and no Ghost Heat.

I don't usually enter these things but I see a lot of meta builds and XL engines that are not new player friendly. The following keeps it simple, no xl engine, no ghost heat, 21 double heat sinks, two weapon groups, jump capable, and the ability to reach up or down and shoot something.

My opinion is we want to DISCOURAGE alpha strikes...not encourage them...

Since everyone assumes that all new players are incapable of learning to not get their side torsos shot off...

Grasshopper 5P

STD325, 5 MPL, 3 ML, 21 DHS

Not the weapons I will usually use on the 5P, but this build is fairly cool with a respectable alpha. Standard Engine helps the survivablity slightly, even if Grasshoppers are still mostly CT, and the 325 gives it 75kph, fairly fast for a heavy.

Having only torso mounted weapons gives newer players to opportunity to learn to focus their lasers on a single point, and with duration quirks it should be easier to do. High mounted MPLs give it some peekaboo ability and mid to close range. MLs only to be used when needed.

STD 280, 6 MPL, 1 LPL, 1 TAG, 18 DHS

Doing an impressive amount of damage on a short-to mid range scale, the STD engine gives the mech increased longevity for learning players. It can rack up heat pretty fast, but this variant is not affected by any ghost heat. The TAG is installed as an counter-ECM.

This is an ER large laser pure sniper build.

It has decent speed and jump-jets. It's not super hot. With its standard engine and hefty structure quirks, it's a bit friendlier for newer players (as well as for those not-so-new players that, shamefully, still don't bother to torso twist.........players like me). It gets extra range, lower beam duration, and high mounts--all of which accentuate the snipering.

GHR-5P (newbie-friendly sniper)

Speed: 80.9 kph
Weapons: 3 ER large lasers
Heat Sinks: 16 (double)
Jump Jets: 4/4
Armor: 379/434

GHR-5P

"IS Veteran mech."
- you need some tier to play it in right way.

1. no free slots
2. no "low" skill

major specs.

1. -15% laser duration bonus makes a LPL and ML act as same thing.
2. can shoot alpha twice while running on full speed ( with X2 skills ).
3. 4 jumpjets allow you to use almost every location in game for free.
4. 5 ML in right side of mech looks good while firing without LPL.
5. 3 LPL in left side of mech looksvery nice why shooting enemy.
6. 80 km/p.
7. energy range +10 bonus + ML range module gives a 330m+ range for alpha of 58.
8. alpha strike 58, 62, 69 with range more that 200 meters is a banned in this game.

But we use it still!

PS person who was responsable for testing Bounty Hunter before add it in game - is a terrible person who must be stopped by US police troopers on road. 1 WEAPON slot for a whole CT\LT\RT in heavy mech. Hope some day US police will stop you on road for this and ask you WHY? WHY 75 tonns mech have only ONE weapon slot in torso...

...and NO arm actuators.

I don't think Grasshopper are new pilot friendly chassis.
But it is the first heavy I use to learn this weight class, relatively agile and easy to use, but an easy target.

GHR-5N - Swampbug
1x PPC
3x Small Pulse Laser
4x Medium Laser
1x AMS with 1t ammo (2000)
XL 340 Engine (78.7kph / 84.6kph)
4x Jump Jets
20 DHS (37% HE)
416/434 Armour

This is my energy support/brawler.
A single high mounted PPC provide it with some long-mid range damage, 4 ML provide a good punch upclose, while the 3 SPL kicks in when you need to cooldown or nail a leg-hugging light mech.
Jump Jet give it some ability to PPC-poptart, but mostly for getting to higher ground, making tight turn in brawl and spreading damage.

Jump-Puke
3 LPL
3 ML
16 DHS
4 JJ
XL 330

This is designed to dump alphas and then torso twist whilst jump twisting as well. This means that not only do you arm tank and side-torso tank, you leg tank too. And those 4 JJ are critical to getting the required height for that leg tanking.

Hop-Puke
3 LPL
3 ML
17 DHS
3 JJ
XL 330

This runs along the same line, but it sacrifices a JJ for a DHS to squeeze out some more DPS.

Fast-Puke
3 LPL
3 ML
16 DHS
3 JJ
XL 340

This goes just a bit faster than the aforementioned builds. It can be useful for getting into and out of cover as fast as possible to corner peek.

All of these excel at hill-humping, and all should torso + jump twist to the right. Not only is the left arm an empty shield, the DHS are concentrated on the right torso for the builds with 16 DHS. That means if you do take hits to the left torso, and the hit rolls positive for a crit, there are fewer slots where that crit could take place.

I run the Jump-Puke and the Fast-Puke as my two heavies in FP. I can rack up up to 12 kills and up to 3000 damage, and most of that comes from the heavies.

I highly suggest these builds for both pugging and FP!
