Sorry, I'd wrote a really angry post cos this stupid intentionally wasted my game, destroying my weapons just to have fun.
But didn't wanted to be rude, so I've edited it.
Just to let you know: if TIER 1 players act in that way with newbies, I am worried about this game's future...

I get that you're angry, and if that happened then that's a ****** thing to do to a new player.

However, this forum is for newbies asking questions and experienced players answering them. Your rant has no place in this forum.

Looks like you edited your comment between the time I read through it and when I clicked reply.
Sorry that happened to you. Really all I can say.

All you can do is report and hope it has consequences. You should edit out the name from the thread since namecalling is forbidden as per code of conduct.

And in general not all players (regardless of tier) want to ruin your fun Posted Image

Repeated advice for new players: Do not drop names and accusations in the forums even if you can prove it. Report ingame and/or write a mail to PGI support. The forum is not the place to sort this out.

[mod]Sorry to hear that Space Oddity. :( if somebody is actively harassing you then please report them. You can do this in-game by clicking on their name on the scoreboard. We don't want anyone to feel like they're not welcome in this game. (Basically what 11 lazrs errwhere 11 and Nerdboard said above, thank you btw!)

I've edited the topic title.[/mod]

Sorry to hear that.
However, tier has nothing to do with being a jerk.
For example, I was a jerk LONG before I made it out of tier 5. :D

Also, if you just started you should be Tier 5 and I'm pretty certain T1s are not supposed to be able to play against you.

Tier 1 players can not play in the same drops with tier 4 or 5, can't remember but we may be be able to drop with tier 3s either.

He said it was in Faction Play, so it's very easily possible.

It also "explains" why the T1 player was not friendly towards the T5 player (though in no way do I condone that excuse).

I recommend you play "Quick Play" mode until you have purchased and elited more mechs.

Many people take faction warfare very seriously, and I am sure you might run into more and more players like the one you encountered earlier.

The only way you will ever come across a tier 1 player is either being tier 1 yourself, or engaging in FP.

FP is advanced mode. You are expected to be reasonably good, and well experienced. If this is not you yet, you should stick to quick play (I don't say this to mock, but to save you some frustration). In Quick Play you will only ever come across other players of comparable skill (same tier).

Nice of you to be worried about the game's future, but trust me, it will be fine. None of this is new.

lol very poor sportsmanship that's like the part in robocop where they shoot all his bodyparts off 1 by 1 :(

i think if it was solo queue it would be acceptable because you can't face a tier1 as a newb. but when you fight a novice you can kinda tell and the fact he farmed you for all the damage he could instead of just putting a bullet to your head is not only rude towards you but also very underhanded way of getting high damage

i WILL say that when i was a novice, the purple color looked more like pink in the game.
i saw an atlas painted like this and i said HEY a pink atlas! that's cool!
and he told me it was purple and he and his friend in a hunchback legged my mech and took off and left me limping from spawn.
however that's not the norm. people are nicer than that most of the time.

i like that song by bowie btw! nice name!

Hi Space Oddity, I can't condone any form of behaviour that basically risks driving off new players. That being said, I know frustration levels have been running high in FP and it could have been a factor to your experience. Hopefully it was a one of and if you decide to stick around you will find a good group of players to team up with a get "into" the game. There is a lot of enjoyment to be had in MWO but you will find that the company that you play the game in will magnify that enjoyment.

So first off, welcome to the game. In my opinion every player should be made to feel part of our little universe and hopefully learn a bit about the back story.

Secondly, as others have said, FP is essentially hard mode. There is no skill based match maker and no "barriers" to stop brand new players from venturing into it before understanding the basics of the game beforehand.

Since FP is pretty much the only mode I play nowadays, I can testify that this lack of a "gate" system can be pretty frustrating. Both for the "veterans" who have quite probably done hundreds if not thousands of FP drops, as well as the brand new player who is just trying out something new and (hopefully) exciting.

I assume you would have been drawn into FP by the recent event but I would recommend a few things before commiting yourself to playing more in that mode:

1. Read up on the mode; the various game modes and their objectives. Invasion, Counter Attack and Scouting all have different victory conditions depending on which side of the battle you are on.

2. Research the various builds and 'Mechs you can use to build a dropdeck. By now I imagine you will have noticed the virtually unlimited variety of builds possible on the 'Mechs available in the game. Part of the frustration many players succumb to stems from this and the fact that many builds are simply inneffective. That's not to say new players should blindly follow the "meta", experimentation is a key factor to learning and enjoying this game.

3. Learn your trade; just because you may have been a living legend in another MechWarrior title does not grant you automatic legendary skills in MWO. Basically get a handle on what each 'Mech is good for and how to get a good performance from your chosen build.

4. Learn your environment; get into the Training Grounds in-game and have a wander around the FP maps. While the objectives may not be active, it will allow you to scout out the battlefield without taking fire and having to worry about producing a performance.

5. Make educated decisions; play in QP and earn your cadet bonuses, build up your CBills and XP/GXP. I won't go into the various routes you can take, this 'Mech over that or this build over that; there are already a multitude of threads that will cover this better than I can. What I will say is, be patient and make good choices. Read those other threads, check out the various 'Mech build websites, gather as much information as you can before spending your CBills. You will find that it benefits you greatly further down the line.

6. Have fun!! Seriously, this is just a game and it should be played for enjoyment, don't worry about the grind too much. If you play the game to have fun, then the shinies will build up without you even noticing and before you know it your having a great time AND you have a fully kitted out dropdeck.

I know this went a little off topic but hopefully it will give you and other new players a head start.

Have fun and see you on the battlefield.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a Tier 1 player. Please keep in mind that he is only one person. You'll find at lot of the higher tier players right here in this section of the forums trying to help out the new players. Faction play is tough on the new guys and I wouldn't recommend going solo at first. If you are wanting to try out faction warfare try to join a unit it will help a ton. Here try these guys: http://praetorian-le...pany.enjin.com/ . They are a good group, quite nice, and a blast to play with. Tell Rogue Jedi and Arymoon I said hi.

Apologies if the OP said FP in his other post, because he didn't say it in this one.

Otherwise I agree that if you're new, you should be playing quick play mode (either with or without a group for quite a bit before testing the waters in FP. As a general rule you want to have whichever mechs you take in your drop deck to be at the very least fully elited, although mastered is better.

If something like this happens again press TAB while in game, or at the end of the match look at team stats, then click on the player's name. There will be an option to report him from there.

First of all, THANKYOU ALL and SORRY EVERYONE again.
I've understood what you're telling me and I agree with everyone.
One "stupid" player, met in one single game won't make me give up. And, however, maybe next time I'll be experienced enough to dodge his shots Posted Image
and, about experience, I've understood that Faction Mode is for confident players, so thanks to you guys, I realized that is better for me, for my Faction and for the game in general, to learn fast to stay at my place: Training ground to learn to aim and use weapons and Quick games to become confident with the strategies and playstyles.
In truth, now I think that my aggro reaction is excessive, considering that probably for expert players that play against 12 expert enemies, have a newbie (dead mech walking) in team is a sort of ruined game.
At the end of this long post, I can apologize with you all (and the player I called "stupid") to gone mad and thankyou all for your kindness and useful advices.
And next time, I'll be so strong that my dear mate will clap his hands to me, instead of shoot at my arms Posted Image

"[...] destroying my weapons just to have fun."

Now, I don't know what happend exactly, bt I'd like to point out that in FW (both in scouting and invasion), there are situations where it makes perfect sense to cripple an enemy mech and then ignore him, instead of killing the other mech.

This is not bad sportsmanship, even if it will not be very enjoyable for you.

The problem isthat I said I am newbie during deployment. The moment I hitted the ground, a mate destroyed my gauss rifle and laughed at me. And, the same mate, joked me again at endgame when he destroyed all my weapons while I was destroying enemy's Omega.
However is a single situation and I hope that will never happens again ^^

Ah, I didn't get that it was a team mate who did that. In that case, report him in-game.
