Another way to make closer games might be emergent handicaps based on killscore. Variable crit chance, auto-UAV's, reduced heat damage/shutdown time, etc. Subtle, increasing assistance to a team more than 2 kills behind. Definitely need to be wary of it being abused though.

Actively punishing a team in real time for being on the winning side of a match is the worst idea I have ever heard. I honestly cannot think of a better way to make a person quit playing a game.

so let me get this Streaght,
i sneak behind Enemy Lines in my Nova(12ERSL) and Back shot 2LRMBoats,
Suddenly my Whole Team Appears on Enemy Radar? as their Team is now 2 People Behind,

now, lets assume this is in Group Que, and of the 10 Left theirs an 8 Man,
they Roll the 11 before them as they have Handicap Buff? and Rush,

Also what if it keeps going back and Forth,
does the Game keep Pushing the handicap one way than the other,
Imagine Explaining this to a New Player who is seeing the Enemy team Appear then Disappear,

What is this, Atari 2600 football? I thought we moved back such silly concepts in 1983? In Realsports football, whenever your runner had the ball, the chasers would automatically run faster than you could so they'd catch you after some time.

Awful idea.

It appears some have missed the word "Subtle" despite quoting it, so I'll flesh out the idea some more.

The intent is not to dilute higher-end competitive play, but to soften crushing losses when inexperienced players are on a team that's being mercilessly trampled. As such I'd limit any bonuses to tier 5 players, and this would probably only exist in the solo queue, maybe LFG queue.

Team down 2-3 kills: T5's on the losing team get a 1.1x multiplier to crit chance and heat dissipation while shut down
Team down 4-5 kills: 1.25x multiplier
Team down 6-7 kills: 1.5x multiplier plus a friendly UAV bubble that follows each T5 player on the losing team (standard range)
Team down 8+ kills: 2x multiplier plus advanced UAV, damage taken exposes enemy position on minimap/BG.

Obviously you could play with the numbers. Exploitability-wise, you might get a veteran player with a T5 alt account, piloting a top tier meta, intentionally sandbagging the early game to end the match fresh with bonuses for... bragging rights? A positive side effect could be that players are motivated to use better teamwork when finishing off the last couple of 'mechs in a match.

There is no positive side effect of saddling a team that is winning with penalties simply because they are winning. That the penalties may be 'subtle' are irrelevant.

Here is my last one for this thread MB. I could not find the original of the one you asked for, but this was one from tonight. Still pretty bad. It's going to be my last one doing the research because I think it is quite clear they think nothing is wrong, and will not change.

Just getting tired of the solo PUG stomps. Either being stomped, or trying to keep up with the stomp. A person who is 861 on the leaderboards should not be in the same game with a person who is 33830. Ends up not being fun for anyone. 15K and above all in the same game I could see given the size of the player base.

Hope I don't necromance this thread, but one curious question that bothers me :

Is the MM actually fixed or not ?

I'm Tier 5 and I doubt that MM is workin as it should (matchin Pilots 2 Tiers down up depending on your own Tier if I unterstand correctly).

I always queue solo QuickPlay and some times see ppl who are clearly above T3.

Ever thought that they aren't but today i got proof of it (see Screenshot).

I watched RjBass3 stream and he is clearly Tier1 - he solo queued too and was at the same match as me - so IF MM only matches pilots +/- 2 Tiers of your own, how could he drop at the same match as me ?

The real issue , the invisible elephant in the room is the same as it has been since near the game starting. You have groups of people who exploit, Get on TS and drop into QP and clean house. I was banned for mentioning it before but I see two threads today openly discussing it like its no big deal. Knowing you can coordinate and be familiar with your teammates while the other team just dropped in blind is a clear and obvious advantage.

I don't really care anymore. The system as it stands is corrupt and the ones who defend it most likely are the most corrupt just like real life we see on the news. There is a price to be paid over time for knowingly taking advantage of others then talking like you mr. big score like many here. PGI does nothing because whales just like the 64 who were allowed to return.

All leader boards and high scores/tiers are suspect. I know that after 35k matches I have seen many so called big time players fall to my guns and I am at best mediocre. I suspect many are who raise the flag for themselves.

Just a question, when he was streaming did he seem familiar and buddy with his team? If so he is no high roller. He is taking the back door to the high rollers table as i explained above.

No, as mentioned above he dropped solo. I know if high Tier player queues with low tier they can drop in low tier matches too, but droppin as Tier 1 solo in same match as a Tier 5 pilot ?

To be clear : i don't blame Bass for this, just curious how this can happen if the MM is workin ?

Muddy and Grizzly should get together and exchange notes, it'd be hilarious.
