As a mater of fantasy or "don't count on it in this particular version of reality but all you have is hope so what the hell" what I look forward to is:
CW being an immersive, interactive experience where each faction has unique traits -benefits and drawbacks. Where each planet gained or lost has a consequence. Where being a mercenary has cost as well as serious benefits (lots of c-bills). Where, oh I don't know, most of the planets that we fight over have something other than "planentary information unknown" for their description. Since I am speaking of fantasy here, I also look forward to Russ apologizing for the April townhall, and rededicating PGI's corporate goals to customer interaction and outreach.
What do I look forward to as a mater of reality?
The game creeping along largely as is until the license expires.

The so called mech academy sure as hell needs a tutorial on game modes for the new people assuming the game attracts any new people. Getting new players and retaining them to keep playing the game is still a problem.

Ghoat Heat 2 will definitely take the fun out of it though. So nothing. There is nothing to look forward to.

next few months?
Excuse me but I am pretty sure that is some time away, we still got plenty of mechs to use before then and tbh by the time we use all of them the Mad Cat mk II will be time line appropriate.
Even then there are some late clan assaults coming before the Mad cat mk II.

This isn't a MK II thread but I'll tell you this if you still think there is a timeline you're living under a rock.
PGI will get no money from me until the MK II or campaign is in the game we know the latter is like 3 years away.
Anyway back on topic yes there is nothing to look forward to that PGI has announced they are working on fully.
Not only is the attendance tournament a complete failure in my eyes it's being used as an excuse to not say the next stretch goal.

I am not living under a rock, I've been at every townhall, on Russes twitter, etc.
He said that even if he makes acceptions to the timeline, he wants to first go through all the viable 'mechs in the current time (which is 3052, due to development time 3053 'mechs would be in development).
Mad Cat mk II is very far with this. There are dozens of clan assaults to add before it and the next 3 years has significant 'Mechs that were actually made in this time instead of a few years off.
Timeline examples such as the recent addition of the Linebacker... came out in 3052- oh hey look. Right now it's 3052. However one 'Mech some people really want is the Raptor, the first IS Omnimech which is a 3052 design which Russ only ever said it'll come out after CW 3.0. Which happened already so it's expected to come soon.
So far timeline is still going strong- besides out of timeline variants. (which there is no 3053 Mad Cat mk II variant thus far)
And so far Russ has only recently thought about possible 'Mechs outside of timeline using current year tech however he strictly announced that this is in the event we run out of 'Mechs which'll take awhile.
There is no reason to just to the Mad Cat mk II unless we have a timeline jump which russ said is not planned anytime soon.
I do want to see the Mk II in game Imperius, I have lots of Mw4 favourites like the argus, osiris, hellspawn... Cougar <3
But at the moment it's not coming anytime soon.
But Imperius, I feel you are growing tired of discussions like these- it's the only one I ever see you do.
But I want to ask something from you:- something that I need a Mad Cat mk II expert to tell me...
I have heard information stating the Mad Cat Mk. II clan name was "Black Wolf"... can you confirm this for me?

(Im aware that OP is asking about what to look forward and not saying he has quit but me, that "nothing to look forward" feeling made me lose interest in the game,I know some are gonna be like "Goodbye, no one cares about you", whatever)

I was looking forward to phase 3 being an improvement to FW, and when it wasn't...yeah.
I'm still enjoying the game a lot, it's a really fun tactical TDM. Really like my unit too. But as far as looking forward, I really think the basic combat elements and balance etc. are pretty much fine as they are. I can't get excited about power draw or whatnot because I don't really see what problem it is supposed to fix, we already have a diverse and healthy meta, there is pretty much only machineguns, IS streaks and lbx left to fix, the rest sees at least some use. So when it comes to combat I am more worried they'll break what we have by trying to fix things that aren't broken in the first place.
What I could get excited about are things outside of combat at this point, like an actual upgrade to FW in terms of strategy. Win conditions or strategic goals for the factions to work towards for starters. New game modes and maps could excite a little I guess, if they are good.
What I have very little interest in at this point are more mechs, and I also don't care about tweaks/changes to combat and reward systems etc. other than praying they don't make the game unplayable like the new minimap did at release.

I haven't played a game of mwo since I think feb or march. I logged in to get my stuff for the mech packs I preordered years ago.

Because until it's in the game I won't play MWO and PGI will get no more money from me. Yes I have grown tired of the constant run around. Russ should not say anything about the MK II unless it's to announce it's coming. Not soon™, on the cusp, etc.
I was looking for a reason to keep paying and playing and I kinda just got a big eff you instead, but whatever right?

I looked though the Master Unit List, Sarna, and the offical TRO 3067 and nothing was said of what the Clans called it. Though that name is the name of a battle armor in Sarna.

I was going to take vaction time, buy a ticket, and fly up there and see the staff, but no we had to have a falling out due to some poor moderation choices and unwillingness to stop the whole big argument by making a simple clarification post on the timeline matter.

Based on my observations at the steam launch party the big fish wouldn't have had time/interest to listen to what you have to say anyway. Too busy talking to investors and dodging the poor hygiene of some of their playerbase.
Also talking about the moderation is going to get you in trouble so you might want to stop. They're watching.

Probably a whole bunch of nothing plus mechpacks but im open to surprises.
"PVE" you mean a single player mode, they shouldve did that before developing the game and i doubt we'll see anything like that for maybe the next year or two.
As to upgrading the engine, ive heard little stuff about wanting to but i doubt they will spend the time and resources to move all the crap over and would say the game does its job fine.
For Solaris, im going to bet money its just going to remain on the back burner check back in another year or two. I going to assume the remainder of the focus will be on the reg ques, CW, esports and oh another bunch of mechpacks with some neat things here and there.

The bit about how we should stop asking for more depth to the game and instead just thank Russ for making the game as it is because any other developer would have just made mech-assault; and the bit about how the community should stop telling PGI how to improve the game as they "know best" how to make a successful game.
That's really where most of my PGI/Russ rage is coming from. When you add that attitude onto some of the recent aspects of the game (e-sports push) and proposed additions to the game (goodie crate mechanism) it makes clear to me that the hope I have always had of a mode with more immersion and interaction with the greater battletech universe is not going to happen.
But forget what I think those statement mean for the future of the game. Think about rather, what those statements mean when expressed by the president of a company that makes a product for sale. What does it say about how that company views their product and their customer's opinions?

Yes I really do.
Why not?
Because if I would look back and project what I see to the future my head might explode.
So I am looking forward. For what I don't know.

FRACK NEW MECHS
Seriously
I understand mech packs make money. Well many players have spent hundreds if not thousands on this game.
We have asked for Solaris. We have asked for lobbies. We have asked for maps or to be involved in the making of them. We have asked for a working and interesting CW with multiple objectives. We attend the town halls and ask.
Yet we get called cheaters. We live on islands. We do not understand game design. That only PGI can make maps.
Wallets are snapping shut all over. People HAVE left. Steam sales are tanking. The huge tournament event has many of the best and most avid and rabid players reaching burn out.
Yet we keeping fed we are working on so many great things, JUST YOU WAIT!
I honestly wonder if the current PGI plan is to try to get some other company to notice the franchise and offer a buy out.
