I live in the center of the US. I ping low 40's to the east coast and low 40's to the west coast and I am on 100mb cable.

I currently ping better to the EU servers than I do to North America - it used to not be that way. I constantly get disconnected from the NA servers but not from the EU servers. This is terrible. Please ship off your servers to a different location that is more amendable the majority of your customers who play on the NA servers.

I try to only play on the EU servers but they are on a different schedule and I can't understand most of them due to language barriers.

Please, for the love of all that is gaming, do something about it.

grow the hell up and stop whining i got 160 - 180 normal on oceanic server with rubber banding issue dc and game freezes and i live in australia na server is 300+ always with the same problems as oceanic server and euro server is 400+ and not even playable thats if it load i get dc straight away or game freeze when i can move is so jumpy not playable

Oh yeah, well my family lives in a rolled up newspaper at the bottom of a lake. Every night, our father comes home drunk and murders us all in cold blood.

MWO servers are just fine.
I wouldn't go that far. The Oceanic server is quite often an absolute mess, with disconnects left and right. Server instability and player dumbfuckery is bad enough that I give up my 80 ping there and play with 300 on NA.

I have always wondered where those folks live and what ISPs they use.

These issues have nothing to do with PGI but the way our fiber infrastructure is built and expanded. Both 3g and 4g along with everything being connected has pushed the system to the brink. Those lucky enough to live near hi-tech industry benefit from their continued expansion of fiber and bandwidth but many areas of the country don't share in that and are being pushed by greater traffic and limited fiber.

Add in ever increasing attacks and you have a recipe for disaster.

My area (Maine) pushes traffic through Boston. Its been getting tight for a few years now and interruptions are increasing. Still the installation of new backbone fiber is only in the planning stages. No money or justification for investment. Its only going to get worse.

You/your ISP has a problem with PGI servers and that counts as majority of the NA customers? Sure, buddy.

I rarely ever get disconnected from NA servers, or any of the servers for that matter. If I do, then 4/5 times it was my computer or ISP's fault. I play on NA, EU, and Oceanic. My ping is well enough on all of them that I don't notice much lag, though I do notice just a little bit of it under the correct circumstances on oceanic. My ping runs ~70 on NA, ~100 on EU, and ~200 on Oceanic. Not seeing what the issue is.

Hehe it's kinda funny seeing people complain about ping despite having "wicked fast" internet.

I have a 6.3Mbps ADSL line and I get 58-64 ping pretty much all day every day to the NA servers (and about the same since I started playing in Feb 2013) and I live in Virginia. Also I can probably count on 2 hands how many times I've been disconnected (outside of server maintenance) in the past 3+ years.

What a lot of people fail to realize is you can have even a 1Pbps connection and it means jack for your ping times. Just because you have the end-all, be-all of internet speeds does not guarantee good ping times.

Is this guy really complaining about a 40 ping?

No.
He complains about while having a 40 ping IN GENERAL, he has a lower ping to EU MWO servers than to NA MWO servers SPECIFICALLY, which indicates a structural problem in NA.
He complains about unstable connections to the server closer to him but not to those farer away from him, which also indicates a structural problem.

Think before you post.

Lighten up dude.

We all get that what he's really complaining about is an infrastructure problem.

The way he went about explaining it though came off sounding a bit entitled and so I made a jest.

People take the interwebs so seriously these days...

Regardless of what exactly he's complaining about, he still seems one of very few, if not the only one, to be having the issue.

I'm basically in the boonies of Florida and I have an average ping of 61ms on a 20M connection and very seldom have drop or lag issues. I can get into the 50's when everyone else goes to bed which shuts down 3 Netflix streams and a COD gamer (grandson).

Op needs to edit his post to append the info he said in a later post about getting 135ms to EU and 140ms to NA for MWO so people stop yelling at him for misinterpreting that he is saying he is getting 40ms to the server and complaining about that.

As it is, I have DSL and live in the PNW, I get between 80-120ms to US and about 140-180ms to EU (Oceanic is over 200ms) due to the lines I have are, well, it is DSL it is through the phone line, and no, the only other option where I live is dial up, too out of the way for fiber to have be an option for a long time.

Don't know, man. I'm on the east coast and almost always have a sub 20 ping on the NA servers.

40 ping. Why are you complaining. Now if you want something like 450 ping, which I'm not sure the game will connect at, try Dial Up.

Now if anybody wants me, I'll be banging my head into a post.

So, an awkward situation to put here now, apparently there is some sort of network problem atm affecting MWO, had my own ping hit 140 (I reset router, booted family off of the internet and tested a few times) to the servers and I am in NA. Break looks to be a node in New York State, while 140 is technically playable (the rest of the servers are well over 200ms for me now, because of routing) I am wondering if this was what was happening earlier to the OP.
