Okay... Just checked out a Nova, namely the one that I earned from an event. Mech's no good now, as it will insta-crumble if it gets ganged up on, and has no chance of hobbling back to the group. Apparently PGI's idea of "What Is Good" is now to be completely unforgiving of any accidental errors. Their Quirk-Nerf has made it so you're not allowed any time for even using the Command Wheel to 'Call For Help' when there should be time to do that. :(

And this...

The Nova hasn't been nerfed as far as I can tell. Sure they may have taken structure away, but if I let myself get down to no armor, I expect those components to be missing pretty soon after.

...has NOT been my mileage. The Nova is taking too much damage way too easily now. <_<

So, out of 16 Mechs which I have put considerable effort into earning over 8 Months, at least 6 of which I've earned from Events, I now find a Grand Total of 25% (4 of 16) of my Mechs are now rendered worthless by an OverKill Quirk-Nerf. This has destroyed my Drop Decks for both Clan and Inner Sphere while in Faction Warfare, and wiped out most of my favorite options for Quick Play as well. I guess I'll be stuck not running Inner Sphere Contracts for a while as I had some serious dependencies in order to build a useful deck (among which was my Catapults), and my Clan Deck is going to be consisting of non-brawling loadouts, because PGI has killed off the brawling Mech (my Nova) that I was still trying to get used to. I'm certain nobody on either side is going to be happy anymore, and I'm definitely going to remain severely angry because PGI seems bent on driving out anyone from the game that would have been playing a Support Role, even though they display it as a possible way to play MWO in their Game Manual.

I'll frankly be surprised if this game is still around in two years. PGI's definitely forgotten that this is NOT 'brawlwarrior'... THIS IS 'MECHWARRIOR', and they need to wake up to that fact. This game was not supposed to only be for 'HardCore players', but PGI's last changes show that they're trying to get rid of anyone that isn't already playing perfectly. It's absolutely sickening to see how blind they are. :excl:

Unable to turn environmental effects and fluff off in Viridian Bog - Not being able to get rid of the clutter - rain drops on the water, flowers, moss and sunlight glinting on surfaces for example, has dragged frame rate down to mid 20's, i.e. welcome to the world of stutter.

Please re-able the functionality on custom settings so this kind of intrusive, frame reducing frill can be turned off.

Many of the "top-tier" players already do this through their user.cfg files and their video card's driver utilities. I believe that there is even a guide on NGNG showing how to do this. Personally I think this is unsportsmanlike (and I know from personal experience that PGI is very concerned about unsportsmanlike behavior, especially on coms), because it gives a player a clear advantage in visibility over people who don't do this, or don't know how to do this. Also, stripping down your graphics so your map is nothing but bare geometric shapes is pretty boring and you might as well just be playing MW or MW2.

Isn't that considered cheating? Perhaps that's why this patch included a new user agreement to accept.

PGI has no control over how you can or can not adjust your graphics card settings (through your driver utilities), and I think that modding your user.cfg has always been a gray area as far as whether it is against the TOS or not. If PGI truly did not want people to edit their user.cfg files, then they should make it so the user.cfg file can not be modified and then add whatever controls that they want us to be able to adjust to the settings menu.

Also, I believe that there are many guides on how to mod your user.cfg file on these forums, I think I may have even posted one a while ago before I decided that it made the graphics look too plain and I decided that it was probably too close to cheating.

I consider it cheating to be honest with you. It gives a very unfair advantage over those who don't know how or simply wouldn't do it. And these "top-tier" players wouldn't be so top-tier without doing so. I could name off quite a few people that do it. That's one reason I don't play CW. It's a joke with all the glitches, unfair advantages, and out and out cheating.

<*reviews the current thread...*>

Is it just me, or is a Patch definitely bad in some critical way when multiple well-known Mech Pilots are all spending considerable time congregated and being ForumWarrior posters?

I gota ask, Why the JR7-K gets the shaft again? It gets nothing, again... The others have either the good energy buff or missile buff but the K gets... 10% increase range on energy and that warrant less accel/decel buff?

Question...if the point to hero mechs is to be "better" than regular versions (thus explaining why they can only be bought for real money really), shouldn't the quirks for Spirit Bear be better than the other Kodiaks ? Like the IV4 Quickdraw has massive armor quirking, better weapon quirking, and better mobility quirking.

Hero mechs in general have been nerfed quite a bit. And I don't like it. You can only buy them with real cash and shouldn't be held in the same class as the C-Bill variants.

If they're gonna keep nerfing them, they should be available for C-bills.

I don't really think the point of heroes is to be "better" but merely to provide more variety to the same chassis. For example, I really like stalkers which don't normally have ballistics but the Misery does. It exchanges a lot of missles for that though.

Uh... then theres the quirks and I ...I dunno about quirks mumble mumble

I can't look at this game right now. I'll be back once PGI either fixes this clown show or moves the circus to Solaris VII, where I can rationalize some of the nonsense as part of the vagaries of arena combat.

I noticed that it takes quite some time from exiting a game to actually get into mechlab. I timed it twice at 48 seconds which seem a lot (from pushing "EXIT GAME" to the point you can see the mech in MechLab). Anyone else having such times or it is just me?

I can't even play the game since this patch, my frame rates in CW went from a very stable 30 ish, to 7-22 if no one is around. In Quick Games I am limited to 12-22 FPS now, and pre-patch I got 40-60 fps depending on map. This patch broke my game and my daughters. It is completely unplayable for us now. It will be very sad if this does not get fixed, such huge investment I have in MWO since it first went live.

Many of the Hero Mechs still have superior quirks to the non-hero variants (**cough**cough**Oxide**cough**) Posted Image

Would you prefer mechs that are a certain win or being OP, well thats P2W. A hero mech has a unique set of hardpoints and also a unique camo pattern and a 30% C-bill bonus. The quirks are also unique but obviously they are a subject of change in the name of balancing. Yet the questions pointed out by previous posters still remain: who are the changes for, and is a change justified when it threatens to break the spirit of that particular mech...

quite frankly, YES. I would. At the very least I would like what I've paid for to not be rendered less playable than on release / purchase because some freeloaders complained about it.
