My suggestions is, that PGI starts using Vulkan, or atleast try it out.

The benefits would be, that it will be easier to port it to a Console, Linux and Android.
Having a MWO app that shows you the FW Map or even the full minimap of the actual round.
Also you get more Performance out of most Cards and even more if you go SLI/CF, so you can reach a bigger Market of costumers.

There is so much potential in using Vulkan.

What are your oppinions?

Would require a total engine change.

Yeah UE4 for example, but it should be a long time goal to get the game up on a newer engine. They could make the whole game better in a fresh engine, than modifying one to a extreme, so it fits theyr needs.

Completely impractical whimsical thinking. They'll never switch over, the amount of work required to do something like that would set them back years. Best you can hope for is for them to make a single player mechwarrior campaign that uses a new engine.

It would be more practical for the newer Cry-engine versions to start supporting Vulkan rather than expecting them to simply switch over. After all Cry-engine did take a step towards better Linux support a while ago it's not like it isn't advancing.

And before anyone goes on a rant about Linux. There are those that would rather escape the confines of windows and mac to use a more customizable/flexible OS. Such is the appeal of Linux.

due to Crytech is on it's way out due to losing money (somehow) fast I don't see vulkan support coming to the crytech 3 engine that we are on right now, maybe for star citizen due to they have all the money in the world, but, not to Crytech3 and not to MWO, sadly.

Yeah using Vulkan would require at least 6 more coders hired onto the team and ditching 80%+ of the code they have now to switch to a newer engine.
Then at least a year of beta testing it to make sure it works functionally similar.
