So yeah, I'm a bit confused on this...

Does this mean I have to basically Death Star a quickplay game to get to the top five?

Looking at the scores, you are probably going to need five to ten such games.

It requires being in a match where you are a good player in a sea of bad players. If it's a stomp either way you won't get enough points.

So you have to be good, your teammates have to be crap, and the enemy team has to be just a tad more crap. So it all comes down to luck. To get top 5 you need 10x 1000 damage games with lots of KMDD.

if you make soemthign like 5 KMDD with soem beign solokill and like 800 damage you get to the top scorers. But you need that like 10x.

so it does require also a bit of luck for the right map and team composition to allow this hapeneing.

I calculated my best game x10 would make my ranking over 4000. It's just very hard to get those games! I guess the argument could be made that better players can get those magic games more often. So much depends on your team as Templar Dane said. Your team needs to be good enough to survive so that you can get that big damage and kills but not so good that you wipe the other team too quickly.

Solo kills are huge for this formula with less emphasis on raw damage which is a nice change. 1 solo kill (solo kill + KMDD + killing blow) will earn you 60 points where as dealing 900 damage would also be 60 points.

The only thing with this is that if you can't get that kill shot even if you did 99% of the work, you only get 20 for the KMDD instead of the 60. Kill stealing normally does not bother me but in a score format like this it's frustrating XD

I'm noticing a number of players in the top 5 of multiple chassis I've suspected of cheating in the past.

LRM mechs are your bread and butter. They're super easy to kill solo.

Yup. Only way to get those is to grind matches until you get the lucky ones you need where you're in the right place at the right time.

Play until your eyes begin to bleed and you have messed your shorts... I think that is the only way to get a top ranking.

It's always been a heavy grind for those perfect game setups. Not for me. :3

Ur Team must be good enaugh to work for u as Meatshield but bad enough to not kill the opfor. gg

im happy that i dont waste 30+ hours on it. i think i played 12-15, but it was not enaugh for the top5.
my best game was a 7 solokill with 1200 dmg.

MWO has a lot of unscrupulous players and they will be gaming the system, of that I have no doubt.

Kudos to the top players that were out there working hard against other top players for their spots on the list though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but lots of damage farming -intentional or not- probably went down in tier 5 that no tier one player could ever match by shooting to kill other tier 1 players? That kinda makes this event a bit silly.

some of the names on the score board are well known T1's so there can be no doubt they got that score in T1 accounts.. it is posible..
