Hello all,
To help balance out some of my previous venting posts, I post about this evening series of good matches, regardless of win or loss.
Almost all of them tonight, especially the last four, were awesome and I felt together with my teams. Part of that is the openness to communicate, whether by mic or text or the wheel calls...in turn able to listen and respond. Since I remember the last four more, it started with me accidentally playing one of my ravens instead of continuing grinding my wolverines.
I think I played with a higher tier due to rarety of lights this long weekend of medium madness. Immediatelly, half or more of my team were communicating, calling out positions and focus fire. I do not think I said much in that one, but I listened and stuck with the group, supporting the heavies and assaults in my raven 3L. After playing with the slower wolverine, it felt good being agile. Sorta wished I has a probe to help spot targets as do with some of my locusts.
Second and third, got more interactive with my mic as some teammates communicated a plan or at least advising.
Second map was in the Forest Colony, and few helped coordinated even if not quite leading. It was enough to hold a good ground and start taking out the opposing team few at a time. In the end, it flipped to them as the few remaining reds forced us to follow them into a corner while a skilled locust hit our backs. I ended being last one standing, with an weaponless Adder was being distracting and getting in the way while trying to take out the locust. I was already cored by that point, so only needed one good hit to die. Despite that felt good about the match, and teammates complimented the locust.
Third one was memorable, as we had two successful pushes across the saddle at the Crimson Strait map. While a few played lone wolf by poking over the saddle or split to go around the mountain, most stayed together. In this match, I started helping coordinate, encouraging group along with another to stay together and wait for the other team to come over. Felt a bit long, but few poked their head up. Once it is noticed by the pair that split off around the mountain that half of the reds were going around to flank, call to push is made. I did not see anyone leading the charge, so since I said we should, I took the chance to go over first....and that was enough to trigger the team to follow. We quickly wiped those of them were on the other side, and just in time too. The group that went around the mountain started poking over the saddle. Once we re-grouped, another call to push and again, I took the lead, right away going up the side of the mountain to attract the attention of one catapult to look at me away from teammates, and then fell towards them, chancing fall damage. We again wiped them out, leaving a runaway ecm light for us to chase down. That match felt really good, and an achievement.
Then the four, and last match of tonight. Feeling in a bit of a high, I sorta took lead and directed the group by mic when someone asked for a plan. I did not have one, but said something to get us going and group up somewhere. I noticed that we only had one Assault, a Zeus, so joke directed to focus on escorting it..and half of us did so. This led to us having a good position to receive the opposing team, having the good side of a curving choke point. During this slug match, in friendly tone, encouraged the other half of team to come join us, as stayed grouped some distance away. Once they did and helped put down a squirreling Kodiak that manage to get behind us, we pushed around the turn and they pulled back behind a slope. Getting into a poking slug fest, a light got around behind them as I tried to partially flank the other way. As soon as I saw the light managing to attract the remaining reds to facing him, I called everyone to push and hit their backs now. And they did, resulting in putting them down. During which, I told the light that he did a good job distracting them.
Tonight was amazing, and hope to have some more matches like these, win or loss. Gave me a boost of confidence of speak up and not be afraid to try taking lead if no one else is, and there is, support them and listen/follow. Rarely compliment others in mwo for good actions, so felt good being prompt to doing so. Almost felt like when playing with my roller derby team.
So ya, time for this mechwarrior to hit the sack. Night!

I have had bad match streaks like you would not soon believe. Luckily I have played for quite a while and know the score. That's knowing that in an average match I can help my team win quite a bit. That bad matches are a challenge sometimes in patience only. But sometimes it helps a player up his game.
Anyway the great matches really are great and I can remember some like yesterday that were over 2 years ago.
Bad matches are usually when there are fewer players on. Something to keep in mind. Peak hours is ALOT better game play. Playing on quiet hours expect the worste.

Map: Crimson Strait
Mode: Skirmish
Game Play: Type Quick Drop
(Not sure way the Mini-Map is Alway 90 deg out)
All I remember about my team is we had three hunchback 4G and Battlemaster. We had the South spawn (around C7 )points. The main Force did the normal around the east side of the mountain (B4 Area). After coming around the mountain we still had no contacts. Rear mechs reporting no contacts either. So we march west final one small radar blip at the far north west area of the map called for bravo Lance to form on me to swarm the contact. As the contact ran to northwest and around corner our long range Battlemaster starts reporting many more contacts where the solo contact was. Checking the Map, I see our Battlemaster and another mech where swinging wide north of the top center island (Around D1/E1).
Having a Good Guess that the enemy team had Group up it the small cubbie hole at G3. I asked for everyone to Group up near The F3/F2 Corner but DO NOT peak out. Shockingly everyone did, I did a 10 Count to do a Hard Push. At Zero I was saying "push push push!" I Hit my hunchback to Max Speed and came around the corner Call the 1st Target I saw "Bravo Stormcrow Main Target Fire Bravo Stormcrow". As I suspected would Happen being the 1st Mech around the corner my mech melted in to a pile of molten Slag. At the same the the enemy stromcrow Pops. I call the "Kodiak D is Next target, Mech start Pop Left and Right on both sides. As each called Mech Pops I call out the next mech someone has targeted on his screen. At then end of the craziness My Team had 4 Mech still standing. The Enemy firing line had broken. The Cost of lives was high this day and for what, Come to find out it a Sardine Fish Farming City for Pizza we were fighting over. Man I hate Sardine Pizza.

I had a lot of fun playing sleep deprived on the Oceanic server these past two days. To the blue team people in those matches, thanks for being so willing to take VOIP direction and generally being awesome!
