Things have been a little rough around here lately so I wanted to discuss something a little more positive.

Have you ever gone back to an old chassis you haven't played in a while and remembered how much you enjoy playing that mech? I have about 200 mechs at the moment, and I recently realized that I've been playing the same few mechs and left others to rust - some of them I haven't even mastered. So I decided to finish mastering my Warhawks.

And I loved it. They perfectly fit my playstyle. My WHK-PRIME runs quad ER-PPCs, which is loads of fun, especially for suppressive fire. My WHK-A runs 2x LPL and a UAC-20, which performed a lot better than I expected at first, and my WHK-B is still a work in progress. Right now it has 4x LRM-10 and 5x ERML which works well enough...

So what about you guys? We're always looking forward to the shiny new mechs coming out each month, but do you have an older chassis that never lets you down?

The cent D. I was moduling out some mechs and I was going through my cents and remembered how much fun I had with that stupid LB10.

Though after this past weekend I fired that LB10 so many times I may never play it again.

I revisited the Blackjack-1 and Blackjack-3. Annoying people from extreme range is still fun.

Go the distance with the Warhawk-B. 4xLRM15, or 3xALRM15 + ALRM10. With 4-5 CERML as backup.

When they nerfed all the lights recently I got 3 of the Cicadas again. Unfortunately they only seemed useful as a long range hiding sniper which I played for a while to level up the chassis but it's not as much fun a fast medium support or battle mech which doesn't seem to exist anymore.

If its not meta kill kill your enjoyment will wane very quickly unless your some twitch god which is who the game is built for.

I have a lot of mechs I would like to drive but being toasted in the first two minutes destroys that feeling quickly.

And to the get better noob crowd i say payback is a bi*** as more people uninstall. Enjoy whats left.

Unfortunately it seems from the mechs I play and have played against that the trend seems to be towards nerfing classic mechs and buffing the newer ones.

The inner sphere lights in particular.

I could go back to my beloved WHK, but I know that my EXE is roughly twice as good as it Posted Image.

PPC-MLX can be quite funny :D.

I haven't bought any EXEs, are they worth getting?

I experiment with my 'Mechs a *lot*, so I'm always rediscovering them after long stints of changes or hibernation. Like, I play a cERPPC Shadow Cat, then come back to cUAC/10 + 3xcERML and it's awesome. Or I fire up the Dragon 1C with 3xLPL, and remember how ridiculous it is with lasers (a shame, given the ballistic mounts). The Mist Lynx, always makes me smile; actually pretty phenomenal if you can get the enemy to close within SRM range.

Jagermech also never fails to please. The oldest 'Mech in my garage, never having once been sold and re-purchased, is a DD. It has been a strong contender since forever, it just often gets passed over for new shinies like the MAD, RFL, and recently tiny - died CPLTs.

I'm hoping I get back to the point where I love my Cataphracts again... I miss playing those and actually feeling like I'm playing well...

Centurion AL
Dust it off for the event weekend, although I didn't make it into the ranking with it, I remember how much fun it was piloting one.
Unlike the meta 3xLL build, mine is a 2xLL, 2xML 2xSRM4 build.

Funny you mentioned the Phract, just play a few rounds this morning in my 0XP with a simple build of 3MLs, LPL, AC20, and ECM... Forgot what size engine... Any way, I was kicking butt in that thing. I had forgotten how much fun it was.
