....are you blind man... THATS WHY IS CAN FIT CLAN WEAPONS ON THEIR MECH!!!!! They were tired of getting their asses kicked so they invented the tech to put CLAN WEAPONS ON THEIR MECH!! Like I said, if ******* PGI would implement that then no more IS getting their **** kicked in! End of story good bye the end!

I shudder at the thought of a black knight using clan lasers.

No. I think it would be terrible for balance in the long run to implement that. Besides, the Inner Sphere wasn't really mounting clan weapons on their mechs in 3052.

While I wholly disagree with your attitude about this, I do agree that clan mechs have been kind of neutered as a whole, from the medium lasers producing 25% more heat than they're supposed to to the range nerf that is clearly seen in the effective range drop off. At 1000 meters an IS ER Large laser will probably be out trading a clan er-large laser because of the ghost heat differences and dropoff values, plus burn duration differences. But, look at some of the recent passes on IS; they're being brought in line as well, for the most part.
I just hope these passes don't end up leaving every mech the same mediocre mech as another, just with different flavors of "meh." There's no point in having different mechs if they are all just mediocre at best after nerfs.

Funny that you should mention tabletop BT. If we went by the designs of the TT, then the Kodiak-3 would only have 2 ballistic hardpoint, not 4.

Straight from sarna.net:
  • Kodiak 3 This variant created by Clan Snow Raven in the mid-3060s turns the Kodiak into an anti-aircraft platform. Removing all but four of the arm-mounted medium lasers and reducing the number of heat sinks to fourteen freed up room for a pair of LB-X Autocannon/20s, three tons of ammo each, and an advanced targeting computer.[3][9] BV (1.0) = 2,178[10], BV (2.0) = 2,615[11]

  • That's 2 ballistics and 4 energy. Not to mention the canon depictions of the Kodiak all have the ballistic hardpoint below cockpit level, not the monstrous 4 ballistic above cockpit thing the KDK-3 in MWO have going on.

Unless of course you've read the Tech Manual, in which case you would know that there is no such thing as a "hardpoint" in BT.

Yep, hardpoints are an artifical construct of MWO meant to restrict players customizing their mechs.

Honestly the Kodiak 3 never changed for me from the patch. I did not know there was a bad number in the program (or whatever you want to call it). I thought the ghost heat was real and never tested it. I ran mine rocking between 2 groups of 2, double tapping and thinking the word "dakka" between. Oddly, my numbers in it have never changed. I put up similar numbers in the 1 and 2, but absolutely can't in an Atlas. Guess I am a terrible assault driver, I'll get over that, I'm sure.

Maybe they will listen to the rage, but I am not sure I have faith in that. I miss my Oxide, poor thing. And since the scale change, I have not found a viable hero mech other than the Pirate's Bane, and even then I can do 3x as much damage in a hellbringer or warhammer or centurion without breaking a sweat, thus making more of that "sweet cbill shower" as theB33f said. So I kind of, slightly agree with the pay to lose theory. Just saving that MC for mechbays...

Another reason over-buffing, quirking, etc. is bad for the game; even the tiniest 'adjustment' gets called out as DOA.

And when you say, "cant believe i spent $1,500 in this game...", I have to wonder ... really? Are you angry because of a nerf? Personally, I would be kicking myself for being so lame that I had to spend that much money just to play a game. Currently I think that I am under $20 total, and get every penny's worth of enjoyment out of it.

Before offending him you should stop and think that you can play the game only because there is people like him that actually SPEND money in it, otherwise the "circus" here would have closed a lot of time ago.
Fact is that HE makes the game keep on running by pouring money in it and you are just taking advantage of that without contributing.
Yes, it's a F2P game so you're not requested to pay but, still, he someway contributes to it......you on the other hand are more like a parasite, so it's not really correct for you to offend him for paying for the game that YOU play thanks to him (between others).

they also exist for visual reasons unless you want a MW3 like fire comes form just some areas of your parts experience which would look awkward, hardpoints are required to decide where a wepaon shoots from.
what clan lasers are you scared off? the cermeds are surely not to fear, and even the lpl is rather logn burning. I fear a lor more then clans could wiel is meds and is larges.

I'd say his relationship to the game is more symbiotic than parasitic, where although Rededevil doesn't contribute financially to the game, just as important, he's contributing to the player base. I thank both players for keeping the game afloat.
