They have no problem making a single variant's pods unavailable. Where they fail is in allowing owners of limited pod mechs to buy additional pods of owned types.

Thinking back to Clan Wave III (the last time I pre-purchased omnimechs), the SHC-P (and other fourth-variant) pods couldn't be purchased, until that variant was available to C-Bills. The regular variants' pods were purchasable, though.

I don't know. Rob the omnimechs of what makes them unique and interesting in MWO.

We knew this shortly after it was announced didn't we?

It's why I didn't get the reinforcements, no point.

It's also why I'm likely not going to level my Vipers (got the basic pack) until the other omni-pods are available. Just like with the other Clan mechs coming. I tried them out last night, and while fun, I felt my builds were restricted/boring after the first one.

As for the Quirks, it doesn't quite make up for the fact that I've got 8.5 tons of pod space after pretty close to full armor to take a single 6 ton weapon. Not with my playstyle anyways.

I love how the Vipers pilot though. Great maneuverability and the jumpjets feel fantastic.

Of course just my own opinion, but for the most part I agree with the way they did it.

However, I think it would be nice if they allowed one to at least get a smaller percentage of the set quirk bonus based on exactly how many stock pods you have equipped. For example, if full 8 pod bonus gives you 10% energy cooldown, 7 pods should give 7.5%, 6 pods - 5%, etc...

I do rather enjoy his videos though. Seems to a little stuck on himself but at least has the personality to keep me viewing. Laughs a lot during streams yet annoying whines in the forums.

On a bigger picture I'm not sure how I feel about being able to put hero omnipods on other mechs at all... I mean I get it, it's sort of the point of omni pods, but still it feels somehow wrong to me.

That's pretty surprising, actually. The public message has always been that once the mechs are delivered, no refunds are available. Maybe it was always a ruse to reduce the number of refund requests.
