Paul, AND Tina...on the forums...the general discussion page to boot...on the same day...

Did they misplace their twitter icon on their desktops? Perhaps they aimed to click on twitter, and missed?

Perhaps they're just lost?

Is Russ out of the office for the day and not watching them?

Don't get me wrong, it's good to see...it's just not...erm...normal.

Makin me nervous.

As for that CoC.../sigh. Points to them for trying I guess. Good luck with that.

Any-hoo, nice to see them around. Long may it last.

Not only Paul and Tina but a few other Devs have been active on the forum in the last couple of weeks. It is a good thing and I hope the forum members can stay somewhat constructive and civil in their remarks so as not to drive them away.

They had a good steam summer sale and revinue likely picked up.

Also, the cry engine just went on sale per month, so they have a new world of crap they can delve into and that's why we're seeing some new tech with these patches.

TBH it looks like PGI has around or supports 10-20 employees. They're pretty small. I'm rooting for the underdogs.

I think that most posts, at some point, are read by someone employed at PGI.
But to be honest, the posts worth replying to are few and fare between.

If a reply is bound to trigger a storm of poo and rage, regardless of context, then it's not worth it.

That's when you hire a community relations person. They did. A good community relations person would know that most of the salt is directed at a faceless organisation rather than at them (her) specifically. Same holds true for Russ and Paul. Many people will happily tear strips off them for perceived wrongdoing, when in reality they are simply venting at targets of opportunity, and are unlikely to have anything personal against either.
Hard to not take vitriol personally, but if you can get past that and simply respond to the actual issues, the heat would likely go out of most situations once people knew someone actually gave a damn.

Methinks the events leading to firing of two moderators had something to do with it. Paul and Tina are here for damage control.

atleast they are able to give reply's with actual answers in them.. exibit A, paul made a post telling that the GH on double tap will be adresed.. a volentier mod just cant give that info... (and if he has to e-mail and wait for a reply every time the tread will be raging on way to long before there is a responce..)

imo prevention is better then damage control...

Russ said, point blank, that this community's input is not wanted. That, we need to stop trying to tell PGI how to make the game better because he knows best how to do that. That rather than criticize, we should all just be grateful to him for making this game and not another Mech Commander.

Until then (April Town Hall) I never had any vitriol.I have zero concern for how he might take my new found vitriol. Those comments coupled with the wilful gutting of the FP mode created nearly ALL of it.

I enjoy many aspects of this game and am in fact grateful that he and PGI made it. But MANY of the criticisms that people direct toward the game, PGI, Paul and Russ stewardship of it, and their failure to engage or even acknowledge this community are well founded. They have never shown an iota of concern in addressing "actual issues" unless the community goes ballistic. I don't believe that the sudden increase in dev presence as represented by a few posts mentioned above signifies a sudden desire to engage, but it would be excellent if it turns out I am wrong.

This is a logical problem with you and not with Russ. You've entirely misquoted him here. Putting words and people's mouth is not going to fix your butthurt because the game was mean.

You've already paid. Pay more, wait for it to be free, or leave. Those are your options after leaving a movie. Jerks who get online to badmouth movies are losers anyway.

I don't pretend to have "quoted" him. The context and meaning of his comments were clear. Also he has made similar indications of disdain for the community in the past (we are on an island, etc.).

I like the game. Where did I sugggest the game was "mean". I am happy to pay for the game as long as it is still fun, but I won't pretend that it is well managed or in all ways perfect. Perhaps you do. Good for you. I am merely responding to a post which suggests that the vitriol of these forums is unfounded or directed to some impersonal corporate face like PGI, and that my personal vitriol is reserved for Russ and his comments, and to the failure of PGI to fix the FP game experience.

Why do you have vitriol at all? This is a video game dude. I'm schizophrenic, are you autistic? I can understand obsession with many in of our same category of mental disorder.

Um, OK. I will explain: In these forums, which are a discussion about this video game, people sometimes take strong positions. Above, Random Carnage made a comment about how people often attack Russ and Paul as targets of opportuinty and that it is hard not to take that sort of "vitriol" personally. I am merely pointing out that some of that "vitriol" is self-created by Russ himself. Please feel free to go search the forums if you need a further explanation of how things like context, cause and effect, and/or how forum discussions work. I also appreciate your desire to be personally insulting, but like I said, I am merely responding to Random Carnage's post above regarding where "vitriol" toward Russ and Paul (in my case Russ) comes from.

Ok, I'll realize all those things I already know, when you realize insulting a man over a video game you have no stake in is ******* insane. And you know this.

Now go play.

Edit: Stop calling him Russ like you two grew up on the same street. Christ you people disgust me.
