So they have changed they way Mechs are lit, which is a good thing since something was wrong with how they were doing it before, but now they don't seem to have any self- shadowing, making them look a bit "flat"

This flatness is even more apparent on the decals, where they cover up the baked in textures and shadowing that is part of the Mech's texture.

I think a lot of how bad the Decals look is because of this shading/shadowing issue, since so much of the under detail is lost when painted a perfect flat color.

Yeah, I can't believe the people working at PGI looked at this and said "Decals are good enough to go live." They should have pushed them back a patch or two and taken the time to make them look like they actually belong in the game.

The sad thing is they had already pushed decals back like 8 patch cycles. You'd think if they had a proof of concept back in December, there wouldn't be such a glaring issue seven months later.

Two or tree people said if decals werent visible they wouldnt buy them so obviously PGI made them a blinding fuzzy beacon of light. In six months they will be nerfed into oblivion never to be seen again.

How exactly would one nerf a decal?
