Absolute BS

2 B and 4 E will beat 7 E in close range no problem, 1 UAC 5 = 4 ML in terms of dps

So with 2 B and 4 E you're actually getting 12 Medium lasers worth of dps without the heat spike

So there's the possibilities:

A) You suck at aiming

Posted Image You suck at building

C) You suck at positioning

D) You solo yolo without the team

E) You suck at any combination of the above

yea get insulting dude.by the way, that was forseeable so no suprise to me.
And yes i have enough of your statet build option, i got quiet some mechs. But there must be a reason that laser vomit
is so big in this game.... dont you think?

Ahahah, you can't exploit your OP ER-LL-boat Raven/Cicada? Good news for me.

I play plenty of mechs of all loadout types. Not restricted to one option.I got the 2x gauss build, the 2x AC10 build and
even the stated 14 small laser build. So my opinion is not biased by a one sided play style.
the only thing i never done was buying a cicada, only have the loyalty reward one but only played it 2
times or so

I've been a fan of laser vomit since before it was meta, and honestly, it's not as meta as it used to be. Things are shifting towards a ballistics meta now with some SRM meta too. But anyway, the reason I like laser vomit personally is because no ammo. That's it. That's the only reason. I can pack 6 medium lasers on a 'mech for 6 tons with no ammo worries when in order to get the same amount of damage in an alpha strike I have to pack 36 tons of autocannon and that tonnage is not even including ammunition. The obvious trade here is that the autocannon setup is going to have more overall DPS since it runs cooler than my medium lasers, but my medium lasers are much lighter and cannot run out of ammunition. If PGI started making us pack in 'energy cells' or something of the sort as ammunition for lasers you can bet people would be abandoning lasers even more than they already are.

no exploding, critical slots stealing ammunition, and for a weight of 6 you can pick 6 medium lasers.
You coudnt have brought it better to the point Posted Image) I think many people see it from this point of view.
In a threat on sarna 4 years ago shortly after mwo launched 2 long time mechwarrior players had a conversation.
And one statet:
"If they dont do it right it will be only a matter of time till the casual player understands that its
just about OMFG levels of Small/medium lasers like in mechwarrior 2, will pretty much come down to that"
And i think he hit the nail on the head.

simple answer: MAP VOTE

thanx to map vote a ever growing group of players is present who focuses
on close range fighting, favorizing OMFG levels of medium/small lasers mounted.
This is possible because maps can be voted
and therefor close quarter battle favorizing maps get picked by named group.
With this situation a mech who has lets say
2 balistic mounts and 4 energy mounts
cant keep up with a 7 energy mounts mech.
Back in the days without map vote there was at least a 50% chance to get a map
that made medium/far range fights likely (disliked as "meh" maps by some guys..
guess why eh?).There a 4E 2B mounts mech coud be very usefull.
But on close range maps it only counts how many medium/small lasers you can
mount, the more the better obviously. This leads to obsolete chassis that
simply cant keep up with the laser vomit.
And PGI rewarding this with map vote. Its unclear to me why they not see this oO?

This is just wrong.

One of my most effective builds is a double cerppc build.

And I use it on all maps. And its very, very effective on all maps.

Yes, yes. All of the close-range maps are allowing the UberOP seven MPL Awesome 8Q to render most other mechs obsolete. Agreed.

Power creep and hitpoint inflation.
Plus how is pgi going to keep selling you new mech packs
If the old c-bill meta is still good?

Lasers are big exactly because very few chassis can mount multiple ballistics and Clan ballistics are inferior when boated in even numbers to IS ballistics. No non assault clan mech can boat emm in sufficient number, KDK-3 showed how everyone will use ballistics if they have an option to (hardly anyone uses an energy KDK and theyr'e always worse than ballistic ones)

Night Gyr will most definetly also increase the number of ballistic mechs you will see

Ballistics dominates anything at ~300-400 meter range since SRMs are out of range and SSRMs suck vs heavies/assaults (the mechs that primarily have ballistics) while lasers have no chance to outdps ballistics

In a brawl scenario ballistics will always dominate lasers and SRM will dominate them both

Simply put, to drop a heavy or assault you deal 200+ damage, that means:

150+ Heat on lasers, enough to overheat you twice or more times depending on how many heatsinks you're packing

64+ Heat on SRMs

40 Heat on Ballistics
