I know the Wolfhound is not in the best of shapes at present. However I still like the Mech and would like to present a possible Hero Mech:

WLF-G "Grit"

Lore:
  • Zachary “Hawk” Hawkins: Once a close comrade-at-arms with General of the Armies Adam Steiner during their tour with the First Somerset Strikers, Hawkins has been seen lately working alongside the Star Seeds mercenary unit as LIC’s liaison. While he still maintains his MechWarrior status, the Wolfhound he inherited from his Somerset Strikers days, “Grit”, remains in storage at a family facility on Ryde. Rumor has it that Hawkins has pulled several favors to get some top-of-the-line technology pulled aside for him; whether the Grit will be upgraded from its classic WLF-1 load-out is a small mystery among his surviving relatives.
  • (TRO:3050U)

What it could be in MWO:
  • PGI has frequently created Mechs based on canon rumours, so even if Hawkins had a standard WLF-1, PGI could still change a few things.
  • I think it should stay true to the WLF-design philosophy, i.e. being a very fast Mech without JJ, exclusively armed with energy weapons.
  • I don't think they'd change the structure, but engine and armour upgrades provide plenty of spare tonnage to work with.

Stats of the WLF-G
  • Engine: XL245
  • Structure: STD
  • Armour: FF (max)
  • Armament:
    • 1x ER PPC (RA)
    • 4x ML (2x CT, 1x RT, 1x LT)
    • ECM (RT)
  • Quirks:
    • + 50% PPC velocity
    • - 10% heat gen
    • lower structure quirks than the regular WLF

To be honest, I could never endure a full episode of that show.
The intro is cool, but the rest... Posted Image

Considering the time frame, most likely he had the DCMS-MX-90.....

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Daboku

"The Daboku is a nod to BattleTech: The Animated Series and the 1st Somerset Strikers (sourcebook), where the production history of the Mauler was significantly changed from what had originally been published in the Technical Readout: 3050. To reconcile the divergent information, this earlier "version" of the Mauler was written in to have existed by the War of 3039 already.
The faulty ejection system is an in-joke referring to the toyline that was produced for the animated TV series. The 'Mechs in the toyline had a panel, located in the lower torso, that ejected the pilot when hit."

Grinner would be the most infamous WLF I think, but not sure it was actually modified from a base model.

This. I own all IS heroes and I'm probably going to skip the current MC sale because aside from paint and Mech Bays why would I need MC for. More IS heroes would be awful nice...

Great idea. I'd be interested in any mech from the Adam Steiner lore, even the Wolfhound.

They could even give it a Somerset Striker paintscheme, I think. Posted Image
And we need the decal, of course:

The first Grinner was a regular WLF-1, and the rebuild Grinner used Clan-Tech which made it a Wolfhound IIC basically:

Therefore I don't think Grinner is a good option.

Ideally, Grit would have ECM, a higher engine cap, and PPC quirks.

I would actually pay the Premium price for that one!

PGI could implement heros from the resistance packs as the ultimate loyality price in FW/FP/CW.

By the way, it is interesting how many WLF-1 got modified: there is the mystery "Grit" which may or may not be upgraded; there is of course "Grinner II", a WLF-1 rebuild with Clan-Tech; and there is Daniel Allard's WFL-1 which was upgraded with Clan-Tech.
Actually Allard's Wolfhound has some similarities to what I proposed: its main armament is a ER PPC, backed up by medium lasers (ER in case of the Clans, of course). Instead of ECM, it has a targeting computer. The Clan ECM is for Phelan's Grinner...

Seeing this, it feels like the proposal in the OP is quite in line with these...
