“Room, ten hut!” The command sergeant major called the room to attention.

The room snapped to, as General Aylward walked into the room. He stopped, turned to the face the group and paused, looking from pilot to pilot. His glance was returned evenly, every pilot steadily met his gaze, though some nodded to acknowledge his attention.

“At ease”, he said and the room went to parade rest.

“First, to put the rumors to rest, it is true. We’ve had a call from House Steiner for assistance. Clan Jade Falcon has pushed in all across their front. Steiner is asking for some mutual assistance units and for us to honor the Davion-Steiner alliance.”

As the general paused a voice from the back shouted “Glass falcon, sir!”.

The room erupted in laughter.

Half a smile on the general’s face, he said, “Maybe. We’re going to find out for sure”.

“As you know, we have pretty much had our way with the other inner sphere houses; Marik, Liao, and Kurita have not offered much of a fight and planets across the borders with those houses carry the HeadHunters tag. This fight will be a different animal.”

“We’ve all dropped against clan mechs. They can be handful. But I feel, no, I know, that our pilots are up to the task. And we won’t be going alone. A few other Davion loyalist units will be along for the ride, but it will be the HeadHunters leading the charge. The code name for this action: Operation Galahad”

Suddenly, Termite, the command sergeant major intoned,

“Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.”

General Aylward nodded as he recognized the stanza from the old Terran poem, The Charge of the Light Brigade.

“Aye, but this is no headlong, reckless charge due to some miscommunication. This counter-attack will be scouted, well coordinated, and with the best intel both Houses have to offer.”

He paused.

“I like our chances”.

The general turned his gaze to the company commanders. “Gentlemen, Steiner dropships will arrive at tomorrow at 1400 hours. Have your pilots ready to mount up. If you have any unfinished business you better handle it tonight, we leave for Steiner space tomorrow.”

The general nodded to the command sergeant major.

“Ten hut!” Termite barked. The room once more snapped to. The general gave the room a final glance, simply stating, “Carry on”, and strode from the room.

As he watched the rest of the fleet coming out of jump around this staging planet from the long command circuit that started back in Davion space, he pondered the upcoming operation... Forces from the HeadHunters of Davion, Aces Wild, C4 and 22nd Argyle Lancers had all pooled their forces and climbed on board for this deep strike campaign to come assist our federated commonwealth allies House Steiner in repelling this ever encroaching Jade Falcon threat.. It took a great deal of planning, preparation and even sacrifice to get where we were, but what else could we do ?? Risking leaving the Davion borders underdefended, it was considered necessary to combat this much greater threat in Fedcom space... Special consideration from comstar relating to communication and transfer of resources helped pave the way for a speedy response and quick deployment up on the steiner/jade falcon front..Invoking the Joint steiner/davion exercises known as Galahad.. We had deployed quietly and without notice until this point..

Now here we were... one planet away from the active front.. Dropships warming up in every jumpship in the fleet.. Mech pilots scrambling furiously into their mounts preparing for imminent planetary deployment. Everyone was moving furiously and knew exactly what had to be done now.. Now we just had to get down there and try and turn this around and push those falcons back to their own space. Silently he wished all his mechwarriors good luck and safe return... Then he keyed the mic and shouted.." Operation Galahad is a go, launch all dropships for immediate deployment"..

Sergeant Stefanie Shepard listened to her Generals speech...falling in with the cheering "Huuuraaaaaaaa! huuuuuuuuraaaaaaa!" ... suddenly one of her comrades poked her "Hey Stef...you speak steiner...could u ask them if we'll have to prepare our Atlasses for scouting missions now?"

"JEEZ! Don't jinx it! You can't buy me enough Schnapps to get me in one of those slow-pokes!" she grinned "But whatever mech they'll assign us to...lets make sure to feast on some juicy clan-chicken-legs after battle!"

Jeebus, I knew Davion was cheap but making Steiner supply the drop ships and jumpships to bring you there and supplying mechs to be used.


Should be fun times in Steiner.

Eeew!! I got shivers, not the good shivers mind you......the type you get when a big hairy spider appears out of nowhere and walks across your hand. Just no, aw man!

Anyway it looks like an impromptu 2 Faction split in FP, just like a few of us have discussed in the past. Should make for fast matchmaking at least

Kind of like that new improved bigger IS spider. Certainly more scary with that big sucker nibbling at your heels.

Major S1lenceR read the Message again, which Colonel Hase gave to him. So it has begun.

Together with the High Command of Davion, the 31st Hussars Regiment discussed about Operation Galahad for a while now. Most of the House Units as well as a few smaller Loyalists decided to send their Forces to the Steiner/Jade Falcon Borders to fight back the Clans..
As no one knows how long this Operations takes and since some have a bad feeling about letting the Borders open to Kurita, Liao and Marik, the 31st Hussars had decided to hold their Main Force back in Davion Territory.
As the Operation starts and involved Units will depart into Steiner Territory, the 31st. are taking full responsibility to secure the Davion Borders as long as it takes.

S1lenceR looked at the Overlord class Dropship Phobos, preparing for take off. Soon his Devils Own Batallion would be on their way towards the edge of the Marik/Liao Border. The other Batallions would be send to other planets along the Kurita and Liao borders. No one would get past them. It was their Duty. It was their Pride, to hold off any Threats that may show up.
But they wouldn't just stand there and wait.
Each Batalion would send out 1 Company to assist in Operation Galahad. They will be assigned to help out at the Clan Border wherever they're needed. Fight, while the others are recovering from battle.
Major S1lenceR looked at his Customized MAD-5D, already pepared for the journey between the stars. Alright, Shana... Let's have some fun and save those borders.
With a smile on his Face he boarded the Dropship.

No one will get past us.

A freshly prepared Fusionaire quickened an exhausted Jade Falcon warrior.
Pearls of cold water ran down the glass. A door opened and a fellow warrior sat down besides the first one.
"You heard?"
"What?"
"Davion is coming to rescue Steiner."
Silence ensued for a moment then the first patron stood up in a swift movement and presented his cocktail for a toast.
"To Davion! Finest LRM boats in the entire Inner Sphere!"

I can't speak for 12DG or the Tamar Jeagers but as the only steiner comp team that plays in the north American time zone PKRL is thankful for the help. Instead of 30 dudes pushing back it be nice to see a fresh infusion of seasoned pilots. Find us any time on the LCAF TS server
