It's easy to forget it's only a 65 ton mech. Its biggest weakness, in my opinion, is how wide it is. The high torso hardpoints are good, but like the Timber Wolf's missile racks, also make for easy targets.

Haven't noticed it sucking at all. Seem to do rather well with it in fact.

It isn't a brawler, but it can do everything else quite well.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ffe25baeb4ff136 perhaps this build may work.

The Ebon Jag is a very good mech in my opinion, I run it in both QP and FW...

A little too wide for my liking causing serious weapon convergance issue so I have my Jags run assymetrical build...

Its not a brawler, doesn't have the tonnage and structure quirks for that, but mainly used for side poking and hill humping.

I usually run dual UAC-10 and 5 er small, concentrated firepower on the right side so try to always have your engagement with your right side and hide your left side. (Counter clock wise nascar :P)

2nd build I run for long range hill humping, gauss with dual er ppc, an er small just to bump the er ppc to those top mounts.
The Jag has excellent mobility, but it is mainly a fire support mech, always stick close to your team... even in my sniping build always have your team mates close for an avenue of escape. The Jag can easily keep up with the team with its mobility, and try to avoid lights as it doesn't have the lower arm actuators...

In other words, you just have to be careful with it and positioning is very important for this mech ;)

Timber Wolf are a little more user friendly as it can generally survive a knife fight or two, but the TBR has slow torso twist rate and my most used omnipod (TBR-A left torso and TBR-S side torso) has so many negative quirks when combined with any other omnipods that it generally limits your build unless you are willing to run with negative quirks :P

Once I got mine through basics and got elite skills it got much better. Its a bit squishy, but even medium range builds wreck face. I normally do quite well in 5 med pulse lasers and a UAC/10 or 2 UAC 10s and 2 medium lasers............

EBJ is easily my favorite Clan Heavy. Yes I've mastered the HBR and TBR. I play all 3 in both QP and FP.

In order of least to most favorite: (Though I enjoyed each one)

3UAC5, 3SL - I've got a thing for triple UAC5s. Works fine on the EBJ.

2LPL, 4ML - "Standard" laser vomit - My preference to the 5ML version. Better sustainability.

8MPL - My own baby - For the ultimate in Medium Pulse experience! Only alpha when you are cool, peeking and want whoever you hit to retreat FAST. Stick this much alpha into the CT of a KDK, even they will think twice about face tanking with you.

Otherwise group your weapons into left side and right side groups, try not to alpha. This thing chews anything up and spits them out.

TBR is more famous for the Laser Vomit, but you can actually get more DHS in the EBJ, making it cooler. You loose out on jump jets and the extra armor of a 75 tonner.

Admittedly that CT pulls damage like a magnet but it's hard to say this mech sucks because it can pack such a punch.

Though I enjoy the dakka builds (2UAC10 or 3UAC5) I've had the most fun with the 8MedPulse last boat. I'm not much of a fan of the over optimized laser vomit builds but this thing just wrecks... 64 alpha (totally doable on occasion) and the alternative is spacing it out in blocks of 32 damage which you can actually sustain.

Want to fire two PPCS while you are launching a volley of missiles at a sniper on the ridge? Almost immediate heatstroke. Why the heck are clan ER PPC's so penalizing to use?

My most viable build with the mech currently is 2 Lrm 15's and 2 large lasers. The most damage I've done with this mech has been in a supporting fashion. I cant brawl with it.

Sorry, I stopped reading right here... I know I should read your whole post... But my cheeks hurt from how hard I face-palmed my self and I fear permanent damage should I keep reading...

Personally, I have found a 4 SRM6s and 2 UAC5s to be a very sexy build. It is one of my best performing mechs in any weight category.

This sounds kinda lolzy. Worth a run or two for giggles at a minimum, I think. And if I can put up some numbers, so much the better :D

Are those Artemis 6s? How much ammo are you packing?

Normal SRMS. 4 tons SRM ammo and 3 tons UAC5 ammo (little light but it works).

I've gotta 2nd the OP in that Dakka builds for this mech seem to shine harder overall.

Due to hardpoint convergence, ive got a ***** of a time fighting off ankle biters, unless i'm packing alot pulse lasers. When im boating dakka, against an elite light pilot i'm toast.

However i use this mech the way its supposed to as a swift hard hitting cavalry striker. Dual UAC10s or Tripple UAC5s **** big mechs up so hard with CD modules its not funny. Having the ability to run 87.1 KPH and melt bigger slower mechs for 45-60 burst damage at 400-500m in 2.25 seconds or less, while playing peek a boo or HARD FLANK, is totally OP.

Having been a pure IS driver for awhile, Clan tech really is OP in terms of loadout creativity and pure DPS their mechs can kick out at every weight class.

I can kick out good games with laser pulse vomit, but i tend to get better overall gameplay when i lean on the UAC crutch harder.

try that with one extra ton of UAC by dropping 1 DHS, you don't need 60% efficiency, on top of that dissipation will do you no good when your ammo is gone.

if you have issues with heat then it might be something you need to practice, i often aim to get 35%+ for better burst damage, it seems to prevent me from getting too aggressive in a pug match and still can often handle a 2-3v1 oh shituation better that way.
