Really?
The original Marauder wasn't that long ago.
All these great mechs to choose as the next pack and you pick this?

I don't even pilot Marauders but won't this be clearly a better choice over the IS MAD?
Seems dumb if you ask me.

This does cater to the IS / Clan loyalist players...who only have IS mechs or Clan mechs only on their accounts.

I got IS Marauder and plan to get this anyway. Posted Image Posted Image

The only thing I would like to see before buying is: the scale of the mech next to a timberwolf and an atlas. After that and maybe a clue as to the hit boxes (yes we can figure them out its not hard but not all are like this since we have a previous similar model to go on). I do not want to see another debacle like the Phoenix Hawk (that made me cancel all my pending preorders).

Its 85 ton chicken walker, expect it to be shorter than a battlemaster but longer.

Whew...I was worried clans wouldn't get a new mech. Thank god PGI there to make sure! And one that is already good for the IS but add in Clan XL engines and dual guass on one variant and some of the best hitboxes designed on a mech.

So the only real variants worth considering are the special and the hero.

Welp. That's different at least.

View PostRaso, on 05 August 2016 - 10:02 AM, said:

You get free reign to make up your own variants because you can't be bothered to develop new weapon systems and that's the best you can do? Even the variants locks behind a pay wall are stale. Literally all you had to do was move some hard-points around.

What about a variant with SRMs in the hands? Double ballistic shoulders? A Ballistic slot in the CT? More JJ Verity? Come on guys, get creative!

View PostSephrus Shanadar, on 05 August 2016 - 01:10 PM, said:

All the variants past A are bogus. They are supposed to be from 3060+ and use stuff like heavy lasers and snub nose ppcs and MRR. So not expanding the time line to include IS weapons that we are already supposed to have (3055 was the release of the newest clan mech available) but willing to throw in bogus builds to make a few quick bucks. I'd go on to complain but no one is in that department obviously.

Well personally Grey November I love them all to the point that I am already getting ready to throw my moneys at MW: O. I love all of them!

Now... onto Raso's comment... Reffer to the bellow quote and response to why they didn't do new weapons. From what I heard there is some internal testing of heavy lasers a little bit on the side burner (correct me if I am wrong). However the problem is this is basically a clan laser the same as an IS laser but does double the damage... how do you balance that? you have a Nova running around with potentially 12 Heavy Medium Lasers which will able to fire them off with 1 arm doing 120 damage and another arm doing 120 damage... then it'll shut down and come back up and fire again after long cooling.
PGI is still speculating on the best way to balance these weapons.

Now... talking about verity...

You claim there is no verity, claiming it's just mixing around hardpoints. Well what did you want? missile arms is very unique for a marauder, as well as ballistics in the arms. That'll change the gameplay of this mech drastically allowing people to dual LRM 20 boat on it or have a pair of SRM 6's and LBX 10's for in your face brawling in the arms which can easily move around and target things high, low, fast or slow.
Ballistics in each side torso? well unique for it's weight. However the Kodiak at 100 tons (15 tonnes heavier) does do this as well.
None of the variants have a Ballistic in the Ct so no idea what you are talking about.
None of them have JJ either.

Not sure if that chain of suggestions was saying what they should've done or shouldn't have done. But if it's what they should've done- they did it.

TBH I find these very creative. The only way to get more creative is ruin what made this mech a Marauder IIC and I do not know... give it 6 ballistic slots in each arm? Something silly like that... which I can tell you I dod not know how much people would like that variant...

We don't have rocket launchers.. or heavy gauss.. or heavy PPC.. or snub nosed PPC.. or light PPC.. or RACs.. or Xpulse lasers..

..This is an odd move..

Marauder IIC is a significant 'Mech in the 3050's and earlier in clan space and clan invasion. But not enough variants fit in timeline/ with timeline appropiate weapons

Rocket launchers are technically underpowered, if PGI adds it it'll be a poop weapon or it may potentially be the most OP weapon in game as locusts can run around doing enough alpha damage to core or kill any assault it wishes from the front but then after that it only has 1 medium pulse laser only), Rocket launchers are best on 'Mechs that have many missile slots and many back up weapons. We lack many 'mechs that fill this hardpoint catagory.
It'll be easier to see single shot LRM's / SRM's first.

Heavy PPC, Heavy Gauss, Snub nose PPC, Light PPC, RAC's, and X-pulse lasers (and the heavy lasers, ER pulse lasers, ATM's... do not forget the clanners!) are all out of timeline. since MW: O is in a 1:1 it means in a few years' we will be forced to get and use these new techs because every mech by then will use it and it's time line appropriate.

Patience, young grass hopper.

PGI made up new variants because of the problem of having enough variants to add an old 'Mech into MW: O.

Not buying it till they either a bring in a new weapons update. Kinda ashamed that they didn't make it a dorsal energy weapon like the older games have been with the Marauder.

That's because MW: O places weapons where they are ACTUALLY mounted, not where it'll look cool.
The earlier games had it in the dorsal because that's the artwork. However it was still mounted in reality in the side torso. MW: O wants you to look at a mech and know which segment has what weaponss because ithey do not need to guess if the marauder has a ballistic in the ST, Head, or CT when they look at it.

Guess PGI wasn't listening when the majority of the player base said the don't want and don't care about another new mech release.

The majority of the player base do not speak english primarily.
Majority of the player base do not use the forums
Majority of the player base are not upset with the game (hence the term PLAYER base, not ranter base / I-didn't-play-in-3-years- and-this-game-is-still-poop-because-I-said-so base, etc)

A lot of people do like new mechs, many people do not care, some are upset about it but that is the minority.

What do you mean it's a joke? The Standard 255 engine existed.

But he IS right.
The gameplay deteriorates greatly and instead of bringing yet another mech they should focus on refitting weapons and firing.
Since they came out I've been waiting for ACTUAL lbx acs that can SWITCH between cluster and slug shots. just my 2 cents.

They are thinking of fixing that LBX problem after they (if they) change to a new engine. But you claim stuff like that would be 'game saving' yet new mechs hurt it... tell me, how many people will actually use the LBX if it can switch?
Keep in mind, no one likes the shot gun rounds because lunatics like me. No one uses the clan AC's in game which is the LBX's slug mode. So if you got 2 weapons people do not like and put them together people will still look at it and still pic a UAC 5 over an LBX 5 anyday.
It'll do nearly nothign to the gameplay and only acts as a gimic... a gimic I would love. But not many other people will appreciate.

I love the marauder. I always thought the cannon on the IIC variant was more in the middle above the cockpit as it was in MW2 but from the art it looks like it's center right much like the inner sphere version. Still this is a buy for me

Well the gun on the marauder is mounted on the side torso. Much likw how the Atlas has it on ONE side torso. Many art works out there show the LRM 20 split betwee both ST's... the Annihilator has 4 Ac 10's but 2 of them are in each arm when the actual hardpoints is 1 ballistic in each arm and each torso.

Do not worry, Marauder II is most likely going to come, it's one of the most unique 100'ers out there for IS... high hardpoints, jumpjets, etc.

noobs question here..is this omni or 'totem' mech like the kodiac?

Totem mechs are mechs that are basically mechs representign a faction/ significant to it / etc...
kodiak is the clan ghost bear totem mech because it is resembling a ghost bear (alien species found on clan ghost bears capital). Totem doesn't mean it's only a BattleMech, they can be OmniMechs as well.

Marauder IIC is a BattleMech.

Fix all the problems with the game before adding more mechs would be a smart way to go . Oh sorry this is PGI , so milk this pig till it bleeds .

That won't work. First of all your proposal means firing a lot of people for no reason because they do not have a job on say coding for game play or weapon ballancing or what ever.
Then you have the problem that they are always trying to fix the game and you got people bussy doing that all the time, So not only did you fire a lot of people but now you have a huge hit to your income and you are still going the same pace as before...

tell me how this is smart?

The only time I've dropped money for this game is the Marauder and I was extremely impressed with it, despite my reluctance at first. It's ended-up being my strongest 'Mech in the game now. lol

Since then, I've made a promise to myself that I'll only spend money on chassis like the Nova Cat, Marauder II, Supernova, and Uziel, so I intend on holding myself to my word and spend money on the ones I really want and skip the rest to purchase with C-bills later.

View PostKshat, on 05 August 2016 - 10:54 AM, said:

@mech: really, some of you people are quite odd. You play a free to play-game which in essence lives upon people buying ingame stuff, and every time such ingame stuff reaches the shelves, there are these odd ones who jump out screaming "boooo, cash grab!"
Yeah, that's what companies are all about. They sell you stuff and want to grab your cash. In exchange for their work.
But guess what? NOBODY FORCES YOU TO OPEN YOUR WALLET.

Argeed 100%. PGI = business, period. No money means no game to play only to further complain about on the Forums.

People are quite odd tho. There's a lot of hate about the paint being a deal-breaker. Ok, so flippin' what? Go grab a one-shot then. I don't care for the weirdo cobalt-blue-with-the-eyes-pattern Cyclops but that's not the reason why I would or wouldn't buy it. It's like saying "Yo, that Mustang LBX-GT-5-XD-600 is a sweet-*** car. If only it weren't red. I like green." Get what you want under-the-hood and worry about aesthetics later. Didn't care for the Bounty Hunter II's default scheme so (*gasp*) I changed it.

MW4 and MW2 had the Marauder Cannon as the Dorsal Fin due to it being able to carry one certain weapon in the game that was ludicrous in weight and damage. It also had the only energy slot to ever fit it as well. I'd still prefer it to have the dorsal cannon mount than a Left or Right torso mount.

Even when they were commisioning artwork for the TRO's, the FASA guys often wrote specs that didn't match the art. The 3055, which is where the Linebacker comes from, as well as the Marauder IIC also had the Behemoth (aka Stone Rhino aka Amaris's Folly) a 100 ton battlemech with artwork having one gun on top but the writeup listed a Gauss Rifle in both the left and right torsos. You should never rely on artwork to evaluate how a mech's loadout should be placed on the mech. The battlemaster mounted a single PPC in the right arm, but the artwork had it being a double-barrel gunpod held in the right hand. Then we have the MWO system where instead of the PPCs looking like the battletech art, they're oversized lenses like the lasers, with short little bodies. And even though Ultra-ACs are supposed to be single barrels like regular ACs (just with a different feed mechanism), in MWO they're these twin barrels for Ultra 10s and 20s and triple rotary barrels for 5s. Except...the only battletech cannons to use a gatling rotary barrel arrangement are the actual Rotary Auto Cannons, which don't come into the game until 3068.

By buying these mech packs again and again you're enabling their money grabbing policies and not doing much in developing the game. Why should they if people blindly buy their mech packs..they won't ever make real effort to make this game better like this..

I've spent a lot of money on this game..and over the years all I've seen them making real effort on are mechs, mech packs while the rest of the game is still almost the same..they can do it, they can make this game better, but obviously, they won't do it without being pushed. They made Faction Play only because they been pushed for years to do it. They made a good effort on first clan mechs, The Invasion, but, well, it's again.. mech packs. And they been pushed hard on that one as well.

There are 100's good ideas in "new feature" section, some of them are really simple to implement, but..well, its not mech packs($), it's not decals($), its not supply caches($)..

Apparently, PGI needs to be pushed to make progress. If not, you'll have "minimally viable product" for years and years till the game dies. It's not rocket science to understand, just look back.
