Wow, not it's not even new, but only an evolution of an Icon. Grab it while it's hot. Might soon be sold out. Pre-order yours today!

How can it be "sold out?"

mech packs don't sell out... they're "virtual" commodities. its not like we're talking die cast models here

While I am happy to see this classic Mech made playable for the Clan-Lovers out there, i would rather have Omnimechs like the Kingfisher or the Fire Moth (yes Speedcap, i know) in game.
20 tons and 90 tons, those sweetspots are not yet filled with Omni-Mech options!

I know Russ declared Big Mech Packs dead, but even I - a strictly IS Player - would buy a pack with F-Moth/Black Lanner, Crossbow/Kingfisher.

True, and those are welcome, still, in my humble opinion, it would be nic to have an omni in every weight bracket.

But second line Clanmechs are always nice too.

Five of the last six releases were Clan. It's fairly clear which way things are going here. And it's natural, as Clan mechs are in all ways better mechs. I find Shadowcats to be more survivable and more fun to play than Catapults, for example. Until my unit went mercenary and joined the Clans I had no real idea, I only had two Clan mechs til then. Now I'm working up a Clan dropdeck and oh my gosh, it's soooo different. Shadowcats and Summoners are derided as the Worst Clan Mechs Ever but I have both and good God they are head and shoulders over comparable IS. I got the Summoner last year to run in solo queue and have always enjoyed it, but the SHC is fast, it can fly, it has ECM...I never thought I'd like a mech under 55 tons but it's becoming one of my favorites. I still am a mediocre pilot but I can do more...things.

The Marauder IIC will relegate IS Marauders to the scrap heap among the solo queue for Unseen fans. It's going to be a beast. I wasn't going to spend more money on the game but I love the Unseen so yeah, I will get this and the IIC Rifleman when that comes out.

Five of six "releases" or "pre-orders" ?

Of the last released mechs, Jan thru march were the warhammer, rifleman and archer. April was skipped because of Phase 3. May was the Kodiak, June was the Phoenix Hawk, July was the Viper. So four of six were I.S. mechs and for that matter, december was the Marauder so five of seven. August is to be the cyclops, now its six of eight IS mechs for the past nine months. The next three months of deliveries will all be clan mechs. So for 12 months, Dec 2015 to Nov 2016, we have six I.S. mechs and five clan mechs.

To add to Dee's comments, the IS selection of mech options at virtually every tonnage increment blows away clan. So even if it was skewed towards clan, an argument could be made.

But its not.

And don't look at my current clan affiliation as bias, i am working on owning at least 3 of each mech and I'm down to the last 3 types plus preorders...

Right...

lights 5 Clan 9 Inner Sphere
Mediums 6 Clan 13 Inner Sphere
Heavies 6 Clan 13 Inner Sphere
Assaults 6 Clan 10 Inner Sphere (soon to be 11).

By the time the Marauder IIC releases in December, the Clans will add a medium, and two heavies and finally then the assault in question. Except for the lights, its basically half as many clan options as Inner sphere options for players.

- Testing old IS marauders in private lobby was fun - but that game mode definitely need some kind "ejection" button if all mech lost all weapon and can' finish match. Or going out of play "lock" mech for all left time in it. Not cool really.

When you are a stick you can still contribute by squirrelling the enemy or spotting for those that still have weapons...

While you illustrated it well, i meant at an even more granular level. I bet a lot of fp clan pilots drop at under 250 total tons simply because they can't combine mechs to get exactly 250 tons...

The point you make (less variety) is true though some could argue the use of various omnipods mitigates that deficiency.

cool mech to transplant the clan XL400 from the Kodiak to. With Endo and full armor, you'd still have 30.5 tons free on an Assault that goes 82kph after speed tweak

I hope the Marauder IIC gets some ER PPC Quirks so we can play the mech as it was intended. The Kodiak 5 is IMHO one of the worst Kodis, so i think the Mad IIC will share the same destiny with 9 Energy Hardpoints and no other ones. Well, lets see what the Quirks will show...

I am getting to point where i don't worry about weapons quirks so much. I prefer struct/manueverability quirks as they are applicable no matter what you pack for weapons...

Take arguably one of the best IS mechs in the game, and give it to clans.

As if Clanners don't have enough to absolutely obliterate the competition in FW anyway Posted Image

Don't get yer panties in a bind. It's eat up 85 tons of drop deck space so it will replace some warhawks on the field but heat 2.0 may have these puppies locked down more than you think...

If you drop 2x in FP you are left with 80 tons for the rest of your deck...

True. I'm guess im a bit salty I guess since it seems like clans get quite a bit of love recently. Kodiaks, Vipers, Linebackers, all the IIC's.

I don't the whole story but i heard somewhere that the guy responsible for a lot of the game code may no longer be with the company and left on bad terms. If that is the case, and regardless of who to blame, deciphering code can be ugly business is many languages. I don't know if that can be had as a valid excuse now but if thats the case i can empathize because i have taken over a code base of a million+ lines of vb6 code and after 11 years i still find things that make me want to go back in time and donkey punch my predecessors.

I´ve had the suspicion that they fight with spaghetti code since a patch for performance messed up the "center torso towards walking direction", and I understand how hard that would make feature development, but if this is the case they can´t figure out the code since 2 years...and this just takes them too long.
