Instead of these dropships flying in and dropping mechs off why not just have one that is big enough to hold a whole company or 3 smaller ones capably of carrying a lance just sitting there and you spawn outta them instead. would hopefully reduce spawn attacking unless we can destroy these dropships and reducing the mechs that can spawn.... and these current drop locations suck. you gotta be carefull exiting your drop location or suffer falling damage.

they where working on the bigger type drop ships
would be cool to have it switch off randomly between the two drop ship types

Instead of just using them for immersion, add them to game and let them become destroy able targets like MW4. Add them to Assault maps and let them play....

Even a small one, like our Leopards, are a serious threat to mechs...

Based on MWOs weapons and armor you would need a lance of heavies to focus fire for about 7 seconds to drop something that has 29.5 armor divided between 4 facings. A little longer (about 12 seconds) if you are looking to reduce incoming damage by staying out of hand the weapons range. If the lance focuses turrets first they could destroy it swiftly with minimal damage.
Even if they dodged those numbers that is for a single lance. If you had two lances burrowing into a dropship it would halve the TTK. It's a dropship, so it's not exactly like trying to pinpoint a component on a locust.
Granted the larger dropships are ridiculously armed and would prove a team wipe.

That's kind of my point, even a small drop ship like the Leopard with 500 points of armour spread across the facings in TT, so 1,000 points of armour in MWO, 140 (280 MWO) nose, 130 (260MWO) L/R wings and 100 (200 MWO) aft is a lot of armour... Something like an overload could wipe out an entire CW team....

How many Mechs can shoot at high angles of attack?
What if the dropships first made strafing runs to clear the area before unloading? What if those strafing runs started with the dropships descending vertically from high altitude onto your lance's position?
Be happy MWO's dropships don't do any of those.

I still have PTSD from that dropship in the Davion mission "Overlord", in MW4:Mercenaries Elite mode. Those oh so accurate and hard hitting Light Gauss Cannons...
To my knowledge no one has beaten that mission on Elite difficulty, with a video to prove it.
