I don't think just releasing new mechs all the time is enough to keep an active player-base.
New maps should be easier to design and therefore quicker to release.
Having multiple maps that would come up on rotation like the current process would make the game that much more interesting.
You wouldn't get the monotony of playing the same map over and over within a one hour period.
If PGI doesn't have the manpower to implement new maps, why not open the ability to create maps up to the community?
Players could vote on the best maps after trialing them for a month, and then the winning design could be added to the permanent map options.
Just think of all the possibilities! Battling through cave systems, brawling under waterfalls, or guerrilla tactics in dense jungle.

Engaging with the player base is not PGI's strong suit.
Yours is a great idea, but it has been around since the beginning of the game. Literally hundreds of (mostly former) players volunteered their time and effort to create maps, for free, for the game. Especially after PGI announced that each map cost them something like $250,000 to make.
Had PGI been interested in this idea when it was first suggested, we could have unique maps for every planet in the BattleTech universe by now.
It is just another one of the missed opportunities for PGI to add to the mountain of them, unfortunately.

PGI's official position is that vetting and reviewing the thousands of player submissions would take more time and resources than simply making their own. If you knew what goes into making a good map, you might see it from their point of view.

If PGI could see what went into making good maps, this forum wouldn't exist and the community would not vote for the same three maps over and over.

I would love a new series of maps and game modes for community warfare! The constant repetition of "All their gates are open!" is so dull now. I mean most of the maps don't even make sense from a warfare standpoint. Where is urban combat or open plains to fight on, or more interesting objectives then defend the o-gens and omega or try to destroy them. Its just so static and getting boring.
