I know these tournaments and events tend to bring out the weekend warriors, but this one seems particularly painful to me. 6-8 assaults per team, most of whom don't seem to be familiar with how assaults work. I don't normally complain about events or how people play the game, but...

Looks like the next 5 days will be kind of rough in the solo queue.

Are you guys joining the "epic assault" or playing something else? I think I need to drop in a mech that doesn't rely on the assaults to push. Like a fast ECM sniper or something. I don't know.

Done with the challenge already.

It's fun messing with Assaults that don't seem to have a clue. Once in a while, the occasional competent target is the challenge.

Farmin' doesn't have to be all about the C-bills.

The "fun" part is being part of a match where the team has a lead, and the Assaults are too scared to push in numbers while I'm the squirrel that the opfor is only paying attention to.

I found it gets easier depending on the time of day.

I also think they should drop the Tier matchmaking for these events...

I played last night in my 2PPC Panther. Figured with all the slowpokes around I'd have an easier time maintaining minimum distance. Good fun.

I probably won't play assaults unless I really feel like grinding out my Victors. The Victor is the one assault I have that I haven't elited yet because something else always seems to come up.

Just like to point out how welcoming the farmers are to the new or casual players. They don't see what the end result of coming into solo and stomping will do for the game. They just hope MM breaks so they have more chances to club baby seals.

Then they come here to brag about it.

I don't go off complaining about how bad teammates are (and there is a vast array by definition) when losing.

The reality is that the population of the game is mostly on the casual level, so finding people that isn't as good as a natural consequence based on the time of day. The pool isn't that deep... it's only wide.

I've had some really fun matches.. and some .. other matches.. where a lance of assaults just wanders off to nowhere or stands in a corner.

One thing is fore sure, the amount of LRMs is much higher than usual.

..ugh.. so many LRMs on assaults.. while they stand at the back of the team and demand someone provide them with locks..

If the map is Polar of Frozen, I'll give my team three or four minutes to prove that they're not going to just stand around with their thumbs up their butts. If it looks like I've got derps, I'll go die and try to queue back with another mech before they're done with the match, just to get away from them.

Meanwhile those guys are doing the same. It's a viscous circle and I love it. At some point the tryhards with average IQs figured it out and cleared from Solo. The rest well they are fun to give a rash to.

LRMs on Assaults in force are real.

It just makes them easier cannon fodder.

I need to finish the Elite skills on my last Hellbringer. Doing the personal awards will take care of that and should only take me 6 or 7 matches. That is probably all that I will play during the event. That is unless, I decide to start leveling my new Mad Dogs.

I stay away from Assaults. Don't own a single one. I suck at them and I feel that won't change. I will Keep playing Elder Scrolls Legends or Fallout 4 this weekend.

I find it a good idea to at least own a mech in every weight class, but only drive them once in a while. It gives you a good perspective and insight when you fight against that mech class later on down the road.


As for me, I'll avoid driving an assault during this event just because the queue.

Whenever there's a heavy or assault-specific event, it feels rough. It definitely doesn't help that good assault pilots are usually of a particular bunch and there will be many more people playing assaults in ways they would typically pilot their mediums. This will probably be even a little more highlighted in the group queue, where no doubt people will be dropping in groups of 2 to max out their 200 tons and nobody wants to move out of cover to make the match progress at all.

Having said that, if I have sufficient time this weekend I still plan on joining in.

Holy crap in Tier 5 during this event there are so many Assaults who only press W and D. I will probably be Tier 4 after this weekend.
