Actually more impressed with the arms moving independentely from one another. Unless that's just for demonstration.

If only the flames stick to the enemy and continue dealing heat and damage for few seconds.

Then we'd have inferno SRMs

BattleTech flamers usually use plasma vented from the 'Mech's fusion reactor, so there is nothing what could stick on enemy 'Mech.

If you would like to see flames "stick" on enemy 'Mech, you would need Infernos. Oh, I forgot, another weapon that has not been implemented by PGI ... Posted Image

Nothing to see here. I mean why even bother posting a video of what Heavy Gear Online is advertising. Pu-leaze. No one in this community is interested in some alternative stompy robot game, regardless of how cool its graphics look or how intriguing the idea independent arm aiming is. Nothing...NOTHING!, is going to draw even a hint of interest from these die hard Mechwarriors that play this here game. Nope. That stuff pales in comparison to the ever changing complexity of combat, and lore immersed universe that we enjoy here in MWO!

For that matter no one is interested in HBS either. Nope. Everything is fine. We have everything we need right here.

Pfft. Heavy Gear flammers. Who needs em.
Just going to sit back and watch the MWO population explode in the face of these lame alternatives.

Seriously, if flamers looked like they used to look in MWO (or even better, like they look in that video), I would use them on loads of different mechs and the Firestarter would easily be one of my favourite IS mechs.

Flamers went from being beautiful, but terrible, to useful, but fugly.

One step forward, one step backward. <sigh>

Having Infernos would require them having an ammo swapping system in, which would also fix LBX. Unless they go the lazy route and just make another set of srm launchers that only shoot infernos.

And will be OP on releaase, useless after the nerf, meh after further balancing, then broke again after it gets "buffed back", ultimately being a pretty ******, novelty weapon that works only some of the time and doesnt fit w/e the meta will be at that time.

The last game I remember seeing infernos in had them from a separate launcher. It's been a while though...

Rather blowtorch than more framerate due to some wildfire blinding foe and friend alike. Maybe with a new engine PGI will bring the inferno back along with nerf Posted Image Posted Image

If ever the Machine guns could have some use, like the flamers do now *sigh*

If they're supposed to be reactor plasma, I can how that old flame effect is inappropriate.

But now they just look ... bad. It doesn't have to be that old flame effect, and doesn't have to block vision like the old one did, just something that looks cool and interesting.

Heavy gear isn't stompy... it's skatey.

Actually as quick and mobile as heavy gear is PGI could lose a lot of the CoD types to it.

I have to admit, I use to be a flamer fan, but since they turned them into something that looks like flamers w/o texture, I sold them all :/

Yeah, I like aesthetic in my mechs weaponry.

As for the video, something like that would be nice, but the old flamer were good enough.

Yes, if only a weapon designed to fight things not in the game was better...

Contrary to all the "this is bad comments" in this topic, I think the new flamer looks way better. Cool even.

Don't underestimate PGI. What could go wrong?

I believe that it was when the old BattleTech rules were in effect. Today, Infernos are just one type of SRM ammo.
