The only thing that is there is under the 3D parametes in the list look for the Surround, PhysicX settings. But as other games run smoothly I doubt that this will help.

It might or might not, but it's sure worth a try! I'll provide an update when I try it and let you know what happened.

Might be a bad driver version. Could you try to install the previous driver version? But thats a gutshot, gotta go to bed. GN.

Can confirm that did not help.

The PhysX setting refers to letting it calculated either on cpu or gpu
There's no PhysX in MWO nor any CryEngine game I think

What the so called settings in Nvidia driver might be
Well
Most likely shader cache, set it to on

Also look in the driver settings if anything related to AA (especially DSR, if you go into the settings you'll see) sits on auto or on or something else

Doesn't really matter what you do the game is just super unoptimized.

According to GPU-Z my system does not downclock the graphic card. it runs at about 2ghz. I guess because the game isn't so demanding and thus the temperatures stay low enough.

I also upgraded from GTX 460 to GTX 1070 and along with it I bought a Dell S2716DG monitor running at 120 Hz with ULMB activated. Settings are highest except postprocessing, shading, environment and particles set at low, MSAA/TXAA is enabled. In a match the fps varies between only 90 to 110 which is not enough for ULMB@120Hz (but at least close). With Anti Aliasing disabled I get above 250 fps but of course then I get anti aliasing flicker which is distracting and I really want to avoid it.

OT: What you want in combination with ULMB is the highest monitor refresh rate that ulmb allows in order to completely remove motion blur and there you do not have much choice of hardware anymore when you want nice looking graphics as well at the same time.

I guess my choice at the moment is: Either I will get a GTX 1080 instead or a second GTX 1070 about which I am still indecisive. I expected that a GTX 1070 would be enough to satisfy the demands of an older game, how wrong I was. And the new Titen is expensive and does not support SLI.

I want ULMB because since these LCD TFTs came along around year 2000 no matter which monitor you tried all of them had motion blur in games (with fast motions), now I see a way to have this feeling and pleasure of crisp movements I am used to from CRT monitors without motion blur. I read about the Quantum Dot LED technology which will be the next step in display technology (no more liquid crystals) but is is still in development. An alternative to ULMB altogether is the Dell UltraSharp UP3017Q but is is OLED (no motion blur, organic LEDs degrade) and it has a price of $5000. /OT

i got a GTX 1060 and a I5 2400 (3.1-3.3 (gh)) + 16 gb DDR3 ram whit all settings max at 1920*1080 i get a avrage fps of 120 to 80 depending on the map, the lowest drop i have ever seen was 47 fps, usualy it never dips below 60 fps...

your cpu clock is not worse than mine (on top of being a I7) so you should get atleast as good fps... is V-sinc turned off? (if i turn that on i get dips in my frame rate way lower then normal..)

I just put a new pc together. I looked at the install disk for my gfx card, realised it was full of bloatware and rubbish and then went and downloaded the driver from nvidia site. Then i let it install the gfx driver itself and phys x (which i prolly dont need but just in case) and nothing else.. especially not nvidia experience, this is an experience i choose to avoid.

Hmm, odd, yeah I'm lucky if I GET 60fps haha. VSync is indeed turned off. I'll try the settings you and a few others talked about in here, see if that clears something up.

I've done a full-clean re-install of the newest drivers, latest was 2 days ago, above the version that I had before. That seemed to solve a few stability issues, so that's good! However, I'm still not getting FPS higher than 50, although that driver install seemed to bump it up a tiny bit and as I said, make the game more stable.

Away for a yr. Re-visited due to new 1070. Not having an issue with 1070. Issue is MWO...This game just runs like ****...disable HUD and FPS through roof. PGI focus is MC mech sales and MC mech dress up. Not optimizing game engine.

Thought I'd finally have 1080P without dropping below 60 fps. Nope. Frozen city w/ blizzardin the 30s.

A critical thing I did notice is that if vsync is enabled in game the evga 1070 wont boost and stays at 1Ghz. I had to force new "fast sync" in nvidia control panel and then disable vsync in game. Vid card then boost to 2Ghz.

Game settings
1080P
All very high
Vsync off
post aa
dmg glow

System:
i7 920 @ 3.5Ghz
12GB 1400 Mhz tripple Channel
EVGA 1070 FTW
Intel 730
Win7 Pro x64

its not the graphics card its your processor that this game leeches on.
This game supposedly only takes advantage of a single core.

Correct. 25%. I wish MWO would leech / use the CPU.

Nvidia - enable Hyperthreading may help.

Thanks for suggestion. Not familiar with that setting. Tried it. Same result. At one moment i'll be at 180 FPS. Next im in the 30s, Map key factor. Frozen city does seem to be the worst. Where Manifold usually stays over 50

I haven't investigated exactly how mwo is using cpu. But never seen mwoclient.exe go above 28% cpu usage...usually staying at 25%. So it's either running dual core without HT. Or single core with HT.

Also disable HUD Shift + F11 = extra 20-30 fps.

Follow-up on few tests.

Disabled Win7 CPU parking. No change.
Configured user.cfg CPU core thread assignment. No change.
Forced 32bit client. No change.
Temporarily disabled Hyperthreading in BIOS. Very little change. Went up to 210 from 180 FPS on start / end game screen when GPU is actually engaged 90+%. (I guess due to CPU being free for GPU before game play) Once Game play begin still falls into 30s on some maps. For some reason last polar highlands last game I was steady at 30-40 FPS which was the worst I've seen on 1070. Due to excessive LRMs perhaps.

Looking over this more...I was wrong. With HT disabled, mwo does semi use all 4 cores. mwoclient.exe at 45-55% cpu when HT disabled. Why it juggles them all without maxing out a single core I have no idea.

Particle effects from LRMs hitting, and even the melting burn marks from Lasers hitting a surface nearby seem to be some of the biggest FPS drops. Try lowering particles to medium and maybe you won't get that kind of situational FPS drop?
