Over last 2 days watched 2 different KDK-3 pilots with the 4 X UAC10 build and 2 different pilots with the 4 X UAC5 + 4 X ML build.

Both pilots with the second build scored dramatically higher than the 4 X UAC10 build.

Anyone with an explanation or was it just chance?

Thanks

I say chance, and possibly the fact that Laser might contribute after them ammo gone.

That and the UAC5 has a longer range and shorter cooldown than the UAC10, meaning they can hit from further away and faster. They also don't trigger ghost heat when you fire all 4 of them at once, meaning you can fire them for longer as well. Couple that with the lasers when they're in range and you'd potentially have a similar damage output, though certainly not as fearsome as quad UAC10

Most likely it is the heat changes. Could be pilot skill with only comparing a few different pilots.

A lot of pilots are liking the 2x5 and 2x10 with 4 lasers more then the old 4x10 with the previous ghostheat.

Say a combination of improved range, ac velocity and heat.

the 4X Ultra 10 requires allot more discipline now which isn't a bad thing considering it's still a mean build.

Doesn't seem to be room for enough ammo with lasers there. Did you have a build in mind with this combination?

There is plenty of room in the 2 UAC5 2 UAC10 loadout for lasers and ammo if you drop the engine to an XL375.

Probably less jams while spamming the UAC5's, combined with still being able to poke damage with the ER Mediums whenever the UAC's do jam. Most of the 4 x UAC10 Kodiaks that I see are not living as long 4 x UAC5 or 2 x UAC5 / 2 x UAC10 loadouts. A friend of mine does very well with 2 x UAC10 / 2 x Gauss.

4xUAC10s trigger ghost heat = much less DPS than 2xUAC10/2xUAC5 or even 4xUAC5s

I detest assault mechs, not even a great fan of heavies, but the Kodiak 4xUAC5 is a beautiful, glorious harmony of destruction & glee. Except when I suck at it, which is about evens...

What I'm trying to say is; please don't neuter the only Assault mech I've ever actually found fun...

But yeah, extra range, constant firing, it doesn't matter that you're missing out on some of the UAC10 damage, that ballistic spam is killer. I've had two Direwolves try to get away at once. They could easily have focused me down I suspect, but the fear that thing engenders is awesome & shouldn't be discounted as part of the reason a well placed Kodiak can do so well.

NEVER!

Anyway, ran mine with only UAC10/5 and ammo with an XL400...ammo is sufficient enough in that I don't live long enough to finish it.

If I can run a Dakka Bear with 4X Ultra 10s and a 400XL, no reason you couldn't run 10/5 or 4X Ultra 5s with a 400XL.
