I did the in game tutorial, but that was more of how to control the mech, not really anything strategy wise (the enemy mechs just sat there)
I'm not sure I want to be a Davion, I have n idea what the faction play is, or what/how to do a of it.
For the moment just stay away from the Community Warfare or Faction Play how they renamed it to avoid further associations with PGIs abandoned four pillars concept for MWO.
Factions don't realy do much at the moment there is nothing special to gain from them. In theory you could earn MCs with a Unit you would have to join for holding a planet but as I said thats stuff for latest endgame and realisticaly unaccessable for most ppl.
There are two deceivingly easy basics in this game avoid damage and deal more damage you get.
Reads like trolling but its not meant to be.
Every class has basicaly an other way to do those two things.:
--lights: the key to lights is never ending movement, always move and never in a straight line, never engage head on always wait for an enemy to be distracted, always push the 'R' button to target an enemy never engage an enemy that is able to pay you full attention, lights are possibly the hardest to play mech class
--mediums: use your mobility to avoid damge when ever possible, if the question is move or shoot rather move.
Due to your low armor you can't realy take damage, a concentrated blast from an assault will cripple or kill you.
To minimize that possibility always use weapons with short "burntimes" like SRMs, PPCs or large ACs (your centurion may work with AC20 and some SRMs, your Hunchie also has an AC20 and some med lasers) Never stay still and aim at ranges below 500m, stay with larger mechs that are more of a thread to enemys and act from their shadow, but never, never ever cross the line of sight of a firing assault mech, also never stand directly behind them.
--heavys: the most played class in MWO, for good reasons.
Heavys combine speed armor and firepower to alow for many possible playstyles. It realy depends on the chassis in focus.
Come back to the forum with a chassis you want to know more about.
--assaults: great power comes with great risk. Assault mechs can mount devastating firepower but due to their slowness they offten are even easier to kill than some mediums.
The key to assault mechs is timing, battlefield awarenes and precise knowledge how your weapons behave in certain circumstances. You also need to use the high number of hit points you posses in an active manner by never standing still. Roll the enemy fire, distribute damage over your mech by twisting and turning.
Again, the shorter your weapons burntime, the more you can twist incoming fire.
Assaults are nothing that can run around alone like lights can do to some success. Always go with the pack or with an other assault to share damge. Know when the time comes to fully commit to battle or when to step backwards.
