I think i have found the most OP Nova load out
Look upon the GOD of war, Behold the Artillery Nova!
The 4xc-ERLL combined with MK1 TarCom means you out-range, and out-gun everything(literally vs IS mechs)
this is something i came up after a lot of fiddling and refinement, its down armored, but that armor layout means that unless you eat a 2x Rail shot you will be fine.
if you play as support/sniper you bring down the hurt of the artillery gods like no other mech on the battlefield, on cold maps this never overheat so you hold a 1200m exclusion zone of death and melt anything that dares come before you to slag
TL:DR - BOW BEFORE THE GODS OF ARTILLERY HEATHENS (blows out enemy mech's legs)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: in faction wars a one side setup is better since it allows for defensive poking but limits mobility
PPS: i am surprised that 12x ERSL nova isn't a thing TC4 and 20heatsinks make it such a funny mech, especially when you meet an atlas in a back alley and it goes "S***, S***, S***" realizing you have 20 DPS and can actually keep that up for more time then its got torso armor

I know I'm a bit late but I figured I could contribute something. Nova prime is one of my most cherished mechs in the game. My build is very close to stock, but I drop 1 ml off of each arm for a reduced total of 10ML on the mech. In place of those dropped lasers, I stick a Tcomp1 and an extra heat sink to help get rid of heat faster.
In terms of play style, you want to actively minimize time where you are receiving damage. Obviously you will take some, but your armor is to protect you for those short times that you are going to be blasting an enemy and he notices you. because 5 medium lasers are no joke, 3-4 concentrated blasts will cripple or kill, so you should ideally poke at distracted enemies and target strategically to help improve your survival. A kill shot may not be your smartest move if you can take off a side torso and greatly reduce their firepower instead. Basically, use peaking support mentality and you will be able to pull 400-600 point games regularly.

well you are Tier 4 (if you still are). so the first thing is you need to get used how others on higher tiers play the game.
SPL loadouts or CERSL laodouts are heavy damage dps wise, but it requires very good situational awareness and understanding of the battlefield, otherwise you head into your doom too quick.runnign only 12ERSL or SPL, is very situational and probably not to be recommende duntil your are much more familiar with the t2 crowd. In fact it requires also a lot of patience from you and many maps and situations make you sometimes wait and be very pointless depending on where the action happens. It is therefore also a laod of fun when you can play on rivercity or crimson. As big parts of the maps can make this loadout exceed.
12 CEML, is nice I played it a long time like that lot's of fun (especially when you cna umpshoot and fire off all those 2x6 volleys at an opponents as it REALLY hurts) but it's too hot dps wise especially after the big quirkening with many armor and internals. You will have trouble shooting down lights as burntime is rather high and heat is getting up too fast. When you head to t3 or even t2 those small fellows won't stop and know what to do.
my to go build I use is a mix 6CERML in the left and CERSL in the right +tc1 rest dhs. Helps shooting at the lights in cqc and keeps you useful on all maps by having a CEML volley. That setup also provides you with learning all places on the maps. As you can utilize the most of them for mid and short ranges.

Nova S is the way to go,just two PUG matches before write this i get 3 kills and one match later i get the Bad Company title:

If u believe or not,machine-guns can destroy internals so quick. And before the patch of 1 year and half or 2 that the mechs have reinforced internals, the machine guns was the assault mechs destroyers.
I know because i'm playing MWO since 2 years (but with periods of playing others games)
Now,with the reinforced internals of some mechs, the machine-guns are what not was. But still are good.
At people who find this mech loadout a problem:
I usually prefer cooling the mech with less heat, than a lot of firepower and a lot of heat, believe me,when u find a Dire Wolf (weaken of course) that have exposed the internals,u are the eagle and the Dire Wolf the worm, when it fire all his firepower,it usually goes to shutdown caused heat.
And u still have time for shred the internals with machine-guns. SPLs are for weaken the external armor and believe me,if i put 2 more SPLs i go hot very quick. With the amount of DHSs and moderate firepower,u can beat a bigger mech. I'm proud of this.

Well,on the 2 matches before write this,i destroyed 2 mechs too, with the same damage (a little little less and sorry i was wrong, was 2 mechs destroyed instead of 3) just i changed the PPCs for SPLs and taraaaaaa!!!! The good point of ur build is that the mech can battle on long range, while mine can only battle on cqc :F One match later i get the Bad Company title, very difficult to get.
Here's the proof:
