Is it just me or did it get really ugly after the resize? Come back to this paltry effort of resizing the skin, what is this. The Dazzle Camo does look way better on the K2, but still, my Hero.
The eye and it's detail is totally lost in the cockpit struts and the grin is smeared across the guns and looks so friggen bad.

The rest of the game is looking up from the last time I posted, but why the heck did my pay to own mech end up getting beat with the ugly tree? Most likely this was a placeholder that didn't get swappedout or something, because the other skins look great.

How does it compare with the old one? I never really noticed any difference on mine.

If anything, I like the way the new geo looks especially now that it doesn't have the nubby little PPC / laser barrels.

Anyone have a before and after image of what changed?

Edited main post. Let me know if you need more angles, etc

Yes, it did get ugly. The transition between the colours were smooth before and is "my little son tried to paint his first tabletop mini" now.

Wow...that's a pretty big difference. Color got faded somehow as well?

That might just be from the lighting in the mechlab compared to Crimson Straight on the colours.

But Still, Besides the 1V(P) this is literally my favorite mech, and I fell in love with the Camo the first time I saw it. The fact that one of the huge reasons I bought it (The Camo) is messed up still is an issue to me.

Mine was painted in custom colours, I think red and orange and sth, which made the difference after rescale really noticable,

Welcome to the tech world. Every person is supposed to do 2-5 jobs well.

The 3-d design artist probably do not know the specifics of optimizing pixel when down sizing an image. The problem starts because you can not afford to hire both. The 3-d artist skill set is used in 85% of the project and they can cross over to another 10%, but the fine pixel manipulation is electronic painting needing education and experience. It is cheaper to piss of 1-4% vrsus paying 10% more so nobody is hired to do the job completely and the loss is OK on the books. A modern day case of the KING HAS NO CLOTHES.

I learned this as a web designer. You are forced to lie to employers who think they are hiring 1 person for 5 jobs or else never work. you do the best you can and try to use the moron as a stepping stone and get out of there before it comes crashing down. The moron is trapped because everybody and their brother is asking you to do what Netflix, google and the other top 10 sites do with 100x more budget. They too have to believe the lie and try to mitigate damage later.

trust me your issues with how the mech looks are not on anybodys "I give a Sh*t radar" unless asked publicly. They still accomplished X goals at Y price with your issue being a secondary thought. This is not PGI, this is how good businesses succeed. SAD but TRUE.

It looks uglier but a screenshot of the new mech outside the mechlab would help (e.g. same map of the old screenshots in the Battle Academy).

Trust me this is from 10+ years experience with 7+ years education in fine arts and web/graphics. If you asked me why I took this opinion versus the Dtrump foot stomp I would go further. BUT take it or leave it this is the internet it is easier to believe a lie than the truth. No more replies.

I apologize for the attack on your person. I'm sick and irritable at the moment, but that's no excuse.

I still refuse to believe you though.

Also, the thread is about the Jesters Skin. Not our views on the workplace

Gotta say, not totally convinced its a downgrade.

Yeah, the mechlab lighting looks worse in the images provided, but the same can be said of anything in the mechlab lighting. Lighter and more saturated colors look WAY too blown out in the Mechlab only to look pretty decent on some of the better lit maps in the game.

Additionally, the images for the "old" jester I believe are the "promotional pics" for the mech, similar to what you see with the cyclopes now. So I don't fully trust that these aren't nothing more then "bullshots," of the mech using techniques that have been known for a bit to amp up the pretty for the purposes of marketing.

I'm not totally dismissing your concern. I'm just not convinced by looking at the images that where provided.

Mechlab is typically pretty poor indicator of how good it looks in game. And even if it was decent, comparing a mechlab preivew to an in-game preview seems like an apples to oranges comparison to me, as they are not lit under similar conditions, so any kind of differences are hard to decern if it is a difference between the physical mech texture, or the way the mech is lit.

I am referring more to the textures placement and the overall softness of the skin. It's fuzzed out on high quality to the point it looks like I'm running on low.

When I'm at a computer I'll dig up some old mechlab shots of the old skin: the eyes and nose are very visible and clearly defined, and the grin is striking. What we have now is a massive downgrade.

Added an old mechlab image. Not that the eye now has this really ugly green outline and is totally obliterated by the cockpit canopy? It's almost like They lost the old skin and just decided to wing it.

Also, they took the eyes on the back off and Put "All Mad" on the shoulders, becasue witty.

ah I see it now.

Yeah, gotta be honest. I like the more dusty / rugged look of the older mech models then I do the "super clean" version of the newer mech models.

I know the texture artists on stream at some point said that that was an Art Direction thing to make them look more sci-fi.

I personally don't agree with that direction as these are rugged warmachines that are supposed to be in some cases centuries old, but sadly, if that'a the direction they are going in, can't blame the artist for just flowing the general art direction of the game. Even if I don't agree with it.

This looks less Sci-fi then the last, tbh, I paid money for this too, and while I get that's a bit of entitlement, I'd at least like the OPTION to have the classic skin for the mech, seeing as that's what I paid for? I'm not super down with this Warhammer/macho-esc "Wrtie witty on it! 'this way towards enemy!' lol" thing either, sooo?

Like, yeah, I get that I'm being entitled, but Come one, this is awful. Like, why the heck would you bury the eyes in geometry like that?
