Hopefully this can continue as the PTS goes down the road. The purpose is to expose "broken" builds so they can get more visibility.

Naturally I have been playing around with multiple PPCs and Gauss just like the others and they seem balanced so far. A lot of "old" builds in the live servers still work so I haven't discovered anything worthwhile really. What do you have?

BTW I think the energy charges up to fast.

I thought it charged too fast as well, but Russ swayed me to his thinking there: This just encourages spacing shots, but doesn't actually limit damage output overall. That's managed by heat and other logistics. Even spacing shots by a very small amount achieves the goals of spreading damage; or at least providing the opportunity for a pilot to act to spread damage. If he chooses not to, that's on him.

As to builds....

I haven't found anything I'd consider broken - nothing more than can already be done in live.

Spent a lot of time trying to abuse a 4PPC Awesome, but ultimately: It's still an Awesome, and regular PPC's have a host of inherent flaws. Someone gets within 90m of you and you die. Someone shoots at you, and it hits your torso. You're slow. Those PPC's are all torso mounted (or likely to spread damage) so you're limited in terms of vertical fire. It's playable, but not a T1 build by any means.

Gauss+dual PPC works.... exactly like it does in live... well, except with slightly more heat.

No charge gauss is nice for dual gauss builds, but that 7s cooldown utterly screws those builds up close.

Massed Large Laser builds are quite effective, but do so at a cost of PPFLD - doing less damage with PPFLD or more damage with some spread and more Larges is a pretty fair balance.

People cry about 5LPL builds, but that's functionally identical to Live anyways.
