First, let me provide a link to IGN's article.

We've all been on one end or the other of GG Close. It's a light trolling, to be sure, but also expresses a certain... douchebaggery.

I love stuff like this. Nothing so heavy-handed and clunky as LoL's tribunal, but simple and effective. It sends the message that this is a team game and good sportsmanship is an admirable quality, while being a cocky e-peen star. well, isn't.

Little justices like this always put a sh**-eating grin on my face. WP, Blizzard.

Cool.

I only see someone type "ez" or "too easy" about once every hundred matches in MWO, but I can see how it would be a problem in that game. So it's cool that they fixed it.

Now let's see if this thread turns into a discussion about whether it's ethical to write "gg" if the winners had x more kills than the losers and the match lasted y minutes. :P

I think there are many other things worth doing for this game besides chat policing.

All you have to do is denounce the "fat virgin living in mommy's basement". The truth hurts and you are not flaming a protected minority status. (note in the forums this has had some repercussions - surprise)

Be realistic this person has never been on any real team in their whole life and can only sling meaningless slurs over an anonymous chat. Most bouncers would never let them enter a bar because it makes both sexes and the bar managers feel creepy.

To be honest I suck at fast twitch sports but excel at endurance sports and drawing from life with a mixed set of skills for music.

Only in online games am I thrust into competing for a score with people whose abilities obviously are better or worse than mine. In real life I either see that some one could use some help or I am the first to feel lucky that somebody is there to help me.

You got 2 choices.
Just turn the other cheek
Or
Realize that it takes a real weak individual that has been stepped on their whole life to say such hurtful BS. Now use this info to take away what little pride they have left and show them the stupidity of not knowing their place.

Of course if you are a better person do it in a way that Never Ever breaks the TOS or whatever rules apply. (morality is based only on the printed terms of service)

I don't think this is an issue notable enough to warrent a Dev's attention.

This community is pretty cool, generally speaking.

I thought they took the ability to chat with the other team out? That pretty much solved everything right there.

Or are you still worried about such comments from your own team mates?

My solution was to disable all chat, I can't not get angry when I see the winners instantly type "gg" after a 12-2 win Posted Image

Don't you ever get worried that somebody might actually say something useful in chat? Like call out enemy positions and such?

Worried... eh, no. And if they do, someone else in my team can probably see it.

12:0 "GG clothes ez mode"

0:12 "omg red is clearly hacking. my team full of idiotic mor#0$ %*&§''# f#c& *beep beep beep*"

Ususally the same person.

Once upon a time, GG was meant to express a "good game". Nowadays, everybody who managed to stay alive at the end of the round throws a "gg" regardles what the score is saying.

You are far more likely to hear someone on the losing side criticizing his/her noob team mates after a 12-2 wipe than the winning team boasting.

For all the faults MWO have, an immature player base is actually not one of them.

I wonder when they'll start adding filters for kiddies who can't stand someone giving them a gg and run crying for their mom.

There was a time you could have made an argument for "gg close" but those days are long gone hahaha.
