PGI, Heat Scale is a critical new system we need to test thoroughly before implementing on the live servers. So this week you put it on PTS so we can test.

... and this weekend, you sponsor an event on the live servers to win rewards...

If you want to ensure maximum participation on PTS, move the event to PTS! Pay the rewards on the live server. This way, people are motivated to play PTS and... test the heat scale system for telemetry.

I think you are shooting yourselves in your feet by having a conflict of interest. Do one, or the other, but not both. People need to be motivated to test!

At this point I'm wondering, if PGI is doing that on purpose to keep people from the PTS (yeah, tinfoil blah blah) or if they really overlooked this obvious thing out of sheer stupidity. Both would be equally unsettling. Posted Image

Considering it's a separate client, a snapshot of your profile, not sure if they could just transfer the event over without pushing out a patch. Considering this was dropped on the weekend, that's pretty slim. Personally , I think the event was released with the pts to entice the players running on the test server to load up the regular client so as not to make too much of an impact on the current game.

That and the fact that it's a whole separate install of the game, ~13ish gigs, I feel wards off some players from getting up on the test server when they realize they can't just patch over with their game. I'm up on it, but got to say that's slightly odd, would there be no other way to implement that, make it easier, like a secure patch vs whole separate client? IDK.

It is just a matter of doing a database lookup of the results. In theory it wouldn't be hard to apply the rewards to the production server.

Doing what they are at the moment is self-defeating.

Not compelled. Given incentive (but paying us on the live server does that). Just a poor choice of words really.

If I felt compelled, I'd just not play MWO out of spite for a weekend.

Yeah, good point. Motivate sounds better, too.

This is an utter joke. Just hopped on, first time I've really been available to play in days, can't find a single match on PTS.

Do you WANT us to test, PGI, or not? Because the event sure makes it seem like you don't.

People really don't care about balance like you think they do... I wonder though how many would jump to test PVE?

Apparently they don't. That's why the forums explode when PGI makes a big change that influences how the game plays...

The PTS is NOT ending this weekend... stop acting like spoiled children in the toy department who can't decide between the hot wheels and the cap gun. Russ has already said this weekend they'll be making a change to the PTS likely for thursday (will announce monday if it is to occur) and that will mean patching your PTS install. It is likely some changes to the energy draw based on feedback gathered already.

What the hell are you on about? Spoiled children? For crying out loud, if you're going to make a worthless post then stay out of the thread. There's no spoilage here. There's common sense... and a desire to help the game.

Can't get games on PTS again. Do you want us to test or not, PGI?

This happened last couple PTS as well. Last one was infotech and on the sunday I waited forever to get a drop then gave up.

Can't remember if there was a event on conflicting with that test either. I would have thought people would play more games on a sunday than a saturday. I like never play on a saturday.
