Ppl ask for mechs. Mechs and mechs. While mechs are cool. While they bring back old memories and such.... MWO just stays the same. A few minor changes when I mean minor. I mean by nothing to make the eyes light up and go holy crap this is awesome.
Power draw or whatever they want to call is what a waste of time most ppl think and I think it is too. Yea. It may be a change to alphas and how weapons are gonna work in unison etc. But in reality this game is getting so stale.
Maps. They get bigger. Cool. Ppl still get stuck on the smallest pebble.
More new mechs come out...ooohh wait IS needs quirks to make them somewhat decent so they don't suck balls.
Cant have any new tech.... cos its just too hard to balance all the goodies. Let's just face the hard facts that any remotely awesome future mechs that holds any new tech is NOT COMING ANYTIME SOON.
Sad. Yea. Very sad. Freaking battletech will probably have clan expansion plus new tech expansions etc before MWO makes anything remotely new to add to this game.
So much talk for PVE when the new tutorials came out. Maybe this maybe that. So much salty dodge balling.
It's like they take the pain from the community and say hey guys...here throw us more salt..we love it.
And sadly. The lot of us who LOVE MECHS/BATTLETECH/MECHWARRIOR.....will still always play this game. It's current gen mech.
Might be different when we all flock to Battletech. All the pve players will probably never return here period. All the ppl crying for better content will probably never return either.
Ppl who spent 2k++ on this game will somewhat come back in hopes the game gets better.
I want PGI to give us something solid on where the game is going. These road maps are good. But nothing to get wowed over. Mech every month. New map revamps bla bla.
Sell us something like missions. Come on. Pitch it to us. Dont make them easy normal hard. Make them MECHWARRIOR difficulty from the get go. So 12 players can que. Get in the brunt of a mission and say hey guys...LET'S GET PAID SOME CBILLS!!
Now that's something I get can hyped up for.....new mech announcements feel like old news....oh marauder IIC...great...lovely..cool...more balancing. More headaches.
Sorry....ranting...Wishing...for a great co op pve experience in the MWO universe. I believe they can do it. We all believe. But they give us open wounds for us to pour salt on.

What Happens If Pgi's Energy Draw Becomes Perfect?

As far as I'm concerned, getting energy draw even vaguely OK would enable PGI to finally get around to introducing new weaponry without fear that it will imbalance everything.
It's also something that can be used to actually add flavour and immersion - "branded" weapons, and engines that slightly change the behaviour.
Eg,
Holly “Ballista“ LRMs count (for the purpose of ED) as Less Damage than other forms of LRM on a Catapult as Cats were designed to use these. But you pay more for them... and on other mechs they are no better than others.
Lantren Corp. engines provide Grasshoppers with a -1 pt per Laser (for the purpose of ED) reduction.... but you pay more for them..... and on other mechs... you get the picture...
Other "branded" engines might buff the ED limit by 1-3 points, or flatten the heat curve, or buff the limit only when stationary.
I also think that jump jets should have a Damage value for ED - so alpha-ing while launching into the air is even harder on the heat.
Eg, You can run around firing your 6 medium lasers all day, but do it while thrusting with your JJs and your ED value is 33... more heat....
Anyway... I rant....

Customization has been part of MechWarrior for 20 years. If you don't like it then you don't have to use it. No customization, no MechWarrior as far as I am concerned. Also, its impossible to balance stock builds amongst each other, so no way would balance be better without customization.
customization yes but it was NEVER a full customization as we have it here.
they all been limited to slots, size and other stuff. even mech commander.
having full customization here is the thing that causes all the problems we have with balance but PGI simply cant reverse that thing.
in my book, the customization and heatscale stuff of MW4 was the best thing you could do for MWO as well. it has plenty of builds to do (boating, dual gauss/ppc stuff, mixed loadouts, it all worked) and you was punished for going too hot early already.
to make power draw a good thing, PGI needs to put weapons into sub-categories and give those a alpha limit instead of putting all the weapons together.
something like:
heavy energy weapons: large lasers, large pulse lasers ppc's and their clan versions: set a small penalty at 27alpha damage so you already get a light heat spike for 3 large lasers but not for 2 clan er lpl's which have the lowest and highest damage of the lasers.
PPC should fall into that category too and the splash damage of clan er ppc's should not count as damage to this, just the 10 base damage.
setting the higher heatspike at 35 alpha damage will hit all long range weapons very hard if you boat them. yes im aware of the clan lpl's are the only ones getting a massive heatspike at firing 3 but they need that since 2 of them are already good enough compared to the other lasers.
med ballistics: ac5, ac10 and UAC versions of them should be fired without penalty up to a alpha of 21 so you can fire 2 at the same time, then getting a smaller penalty for shooting 3 and a massive for shooting 4 at once.
these are just examples that came to my mind and the value's can be adjusted but at this point, i dont see any other possibility to make power draw work better than ghost heat.
(i actually have a full categorization in my mind with values but i might want to suggest the whole thing depending on what ppl say here on a new thread)
power draw as planned now will just be so much worse than ghost heat ever was (in fact, i never thought its a bad thing after all since i like classic battletech and firing 3 lasers or even ppc's at once was just not possible for any mech at any time and we should not bury classical battletech loadouts completely)

Sorry what?
MechWarrior 2 and 3 had unlimited customization, no hardpoints or anything, you put weapons wherever you want them. MWO is more restricted then that, and MW4 was the only one of its kind.

Even if energy draw is perfect, if and when it gets implemented I am praying the game either becomes a graveyard or Microsoft yanks the license in 2020. I already asked for the refund of the night gyr pack, just have one more log in to leave the faction and unit and leave PGI with another abandoned account.
Shame really, I used to spend quite a bit of money here. Here is to hoping the Battletech game is better.

thats propably why people love it. it wasnt much battletech besides the mechs and story.
makes me sad now. mw4 was closest to how mechs should work and did work in battles.
