These are my personal thoughts....
I am soooo tired of seeing would-be pilots whine about "boating" a particular weapon. One has to remember there is always a "counter build" to any other build out there. Every problem in battle has its solution; hence you have the thinking mans fps game. I think MWO has an outstanding solution already in place (logarithmic head buildup). It makes outstanding logical/scientific sense. An energy draw system, as I understand, will simple be another "heat management" system. Besides, why would I ever manufacture and sell a mech capable of carrying 10 ER-Llas, that runs on a tiny power supply? Not to mention, Nuclear power deserves its recognition. I'm still waiting for when cored mechs become deadlier than the enemy. However, no one will ever build/sell a big rig with a lawn mower engine, a rubber band powered fighter jet. Weapons are already limited by the hardpoint system, slots availiable, weight, H/t, etc.
It will also not stop me boating 4-6 AC2 when I get too tired to pilot my brawler. LRM boats will still hate me, and fast mech builds will still mop the floor with my heavy, slow, overweight, multi cannon, ammo lugging ***. And I will always say "gg guys. look for me next round!"
Finally, every problem has a solution. A MechWarrior must adapt to these problems in the heat of gameplay. If a player cannot do this, then they should learn this skill in the academy "running cored/gauntlet" section, or stay in the rear of their team while they learn. Both of these options are great fun even for the grey haired MechWarrior such as myself.
p.s. I also CHOOSE to not boat any laser weapon as the ENTIRE MAP knows EXACTLY where I am when I fire. I'm sure I'd also hate hot maps. PGI please do not waste time or money on this element. Please try to avoid things that will turn battle tech into titanfall. Instead spent time and money on things like core breaching. Just a thought. O7
