Thats worth testing! Get a 12-man going with really great players, where you kill 3 teammates at the start and see if you still rise in PSR when winning the match.

You don't rise in PSR just on a win.

The only thing a win does is prevent you from going down in PSR. If you do low damage and die early you get an '=' for your PSR.

It does have a working match maker.

It tries to balance games so that you average out on a 1-1 win loss ratio, it looks at data and then tries to put a game together on that basis, if people have been carried for 8 wins in a row and then it decides they need to lose based on its code, and they play like muppets, rather than give a close fight, hardly MM's fault.

This is 100% misinformation.

The matchmaker has been explained in quite some detail, it doesn't know anything at all about how many matches you've recently won or lost. All it knows is your current PSR and a formula for increasing/decreasing it based on each match result.

It then tries to match teams of equal total PSR within the tier thresholds it has been given, with release valves for reducing waiting times so you can get really lax matchmaking for low population hours or weight class based events and so on.

The matchmaker does not know any of your stats, it neither knows or cares about your W/L, your K/D or any other stats on your stats page. Neither does it care if you've lost the last 99 matches, you're still just as likely to lose the next one.

It's basically a ELO inspired system with the modifier being a formula for personal results instead of team skill difference, and it has a positive bias towards increasing your PSR. It's not a very complicated system and easy to read up on.

This type of system eventually leads towards a 1:1 win/loss ratio, but it doesn't try to achieve that, that is just a natural result of ELO type matchmaking.

ITT: A man is unappreciative of all his free kills from playing with sub-tiers. Rages about perceived injustice.

Steering wheels all up in this b*tch.

Has anyone suggested it becoming harder to gain PSR as you go up in tier? Just have it pretty much the same as now for 5 and 4, but need better scores in 3. Then better in 2. ..

About the only thing it has in common with Elo is that it is also a system to rate skill and adjust a population of players in a game.

PSR is a flat increase or decrease based on W or L + match score. Emphasis on match score over the W/L where as Elo only cares about W/L. PSR doesn't even adjust for who a player was winning or losing to. Also its impossible for an entire populaton of players to max Elo, but in PSR you can.
