Conquest is my favorite mode, especially cause it gives extra Cbills if you win, but it seems like literally nobody votes for it. I have a 6X vote value for picking the mode, voted for conquest, and it lost with only 25% of the total votes.

Does everyone hate conquest or something? Why? It especially perplexes me as to why people turn down extra cbills.

I like all the modes. I vote for conquest sometimes as do others since I end up playing that mode quite often.

Hardly anyone plays Lights/Mediums anymore.

Can't blame them either, just too much firepower roaming around.

No Lights, no reason to play conquest where you have to run around the map.

Quite honestly though most maps never come down to flag capouts either, its almost always just a skirmish with plenty of time for the survivors to spread out and cap enough to win.

People want quick matches for this event and are picking garbage Domination mode. Their motivation is not good gameplay or average higher c-bills payouts per match. Thus conquest suffers.

Oh right, i completely forgot there was some event going on cause I'm not taking part in it basically xD
On the bright side, its fun to see my vote multiplier up to x7 now. Wonder if I can get to x10

Conquest pays the most, so I always vote for it first. Domination encourages scrums, so I always vote for it second. Assault has a secondary objective, so I always vote for it third. Skirmish is dumb and boring and leads to terrible player behaviors, so I never vote for it.

All games are skirmish

Skirmish>conquest>domination>assault.

Conquest is decided by kills not caps, a team that has people abandoning the front line to go stand in a square will almost always lose. Seriously, if you are leaving your team to die to cap uselessly you are the worst kind of person.

Domination is about killing the enemies who are IN the circle, so skirmish.

Assault is the worst of all, it allows a game to be over without a shot fired, fortunately now we can just shoot the ******* who go into the box and the countdown stops, so skirmish.

Damage, KMDD, Solo Kills, Assists, Component Destructions, these are the best ways to earn cbills in the game.

You are not wrong here, conquest victories pay extra, so if you play a conquest game and you kill 11 of them and cap out that is the maximum payout you can get in QP however the last survivor will almost always be shot by a teamate so they can get the above mentioned CBills for killing and such, is this selfish? maybe, but in all other game modes it doesnt matter, ergo, **** conquest.

Regardless of how fast my mech is, I despise conquest.

I play MWO to pilot a mech that shoots other mechs.

I don't play MWO to run around the map and stand in twinkling boxes.

I refuse to cap. I won't do it. I'd rather lose than cap.

This. Skirmish turns into chase the sniper light across the map way too often because some tool wants to keep his k/d ratio and waste the remaining players time rather than just bite the bullet and try to get a kill. I ALWAYS vote for the mode with a secondary objective for this reason, and lets be real, so long as there is no respawns, kill the other side will ALWAYS be the primary objective. This is why game modes that are fit for respawn game types are not good for nonrespawn games.

Conquest and Assault do not properly award the players for playing the mode. You are better compensated by killing all the enemy. Until this changes there will be no incentive to actually play the game mode and your team mates will continue to get mad at you for doing so.


@PGI Increase the awards to the team for completing the objective. Give rewards for any enemy Mech that is not destroyed as additional salvage payout bonuses. Once the enemy base is captured or the conquest control points are captured then any any Mechs that are still alive should be considered as captured and each player on the winning team should receive increased salvage payout for every captured Mech.

Yes, everyone (or at least a large majority of everyone) hates conquest.

Why? Most people abhor complexity. The other game modes are simple. Skirmish-kill other mechs. Domination-kill other mechs while standing in a circle. Assault-kill other mechs, possibly stand in other team's box.

Conquest requires effort. It requires coordination. It requires a team act like, Kerensky (or Blake if you swing that way) forbid, you act like a team. It means at least a couple of mechs spend some time doing stuff other than shooting at the enemy mechs and where they won't be around to take their fair share amount of damage (this is, by the way, one of the reasons why LRM-centric maps are also widely loathed).

Whenever you see a team win assault by standing in the box, or Domination by keeping the other team out of the circle, you see much the same reaction (from both the enemy team as well as most of those on your own team) as Conquest gets from the start.

Assault/Domination/Skirmish play out the same way (especially on Terra Therma and Apline peaks before AP's dom zone and skirmish spawns got moved). Conquest takes the same maps, but the play that yields consistent wins is typically very different.

Back in the old days there were only assault and Conquest. Players hated conquest. They hated assault too, but particularly the bases. So PGI created a new game mode by taking away the bases (skirmish). Players wanted more game modes, but they wanted them to be like 'Skirmish', and so Dominion, which is skirmish with 'keep people out of the circle' attached.

So... Most players hate conquest, this is my opinion why they hate conquest, and I don't think there is really anything to be done but savor the conquest matches we get.

yes, i hate it with a passion...any game mode where you can literally stand on a piece of land (not even a real base) for a few seconds and win a game is not Mechwarrior. You could code an entirely different game with no combat in it at all with those mechanics.

Mechwarrior is about...being a warrior. Not a real estate tycoon

Conquest doesn't help your event scoring (especially if a team wins by cap). Assault is disfavored for the same reason--people who want kills and damage don't want their match ended early because a handful of pilots initiate a cap race.

I love Conquest, and I always vote for it. Probably people are voting other modes for now due to the event, where dealing damage is priority.

I absolutely HATE Conquest mode being forced on me - don't hate the mode itself, but I would obviously choose a "Pirates Bane" with base capture and speed retention modules over my 48kph Mauler - you know?

Absolutely HATE not being able to gear up for it and I would quit every time it came up if you didn't get penalized for it ( never have - but sure feel like it)...

If PGI ever makes the cap point more thematically relevant with tangible assistance towards combat like UAV control tower, ammo depo, repair truck etc, then people will actually see them as objectives and fight all over the map.

No body likes to watch a tick counter go up. Worse, it acts as a timer that nags you to check the 'oven' in the middle of a fire fight.

I and most players hate conquest

but the payouts cant be ignored

so in other words for enough pesos I will play the mode

to bad FW is not the same
