Why does PGI hate the minimap? It's a serious question and I would like an official answer.

Fine PGI. Its your game. I get it. But tell me how you can read those light gray coordinate characters. Is there going to be a 1200 MC "enhanced optics" module that makes the characters stand out? Please stop breaking things.

Well, I really like the new minimap contrast...
I, and as I read, only me, can now recognize terrain features much easier.

As said before, coordinates need to be a bit bigger and need to have a different colour, that is changed according to the respective map.
e.g. white coordinates would be great on Terra, but poop on Frozen.

waiting for hotfix tba...

To be clear, at no point did I say there was never contrast issues, just that I found the font size just fine at 22"/1080p (but suspected it wouldn't scale well with resolution and/or screen size)

Well, it's certainly not only an issue of screen size. I'm running 1080p on 27", so I guess I should be able to read the coordinates even better than you do... But well, I don't. I have the same issues as many other players here: post-patch the contrast between grid designations and map color is very bad and makes those letters and numbers very hard to read on the brightened map. This is to a point where the font size doesn't even matter anymore. Yesterday I tried scouting a little bit just to discover, that I can't direct anybody anywhere because of these minimap issues...

So please PGI: give us back the map from before! Less bright map with brighter coordinates. Or at least adjust the coordinate color for each map independently so that the coordinates become visible again on every map...

running a 21" monitor at 1080 and no, it is not readable, especially on snow maps. calling out enemy locations now is just saying "that guy over there, you know by the thing. no not that thing, the other thing. oh forget it"

Another Voice in the crowd here, the minimal coordinates are downright unreadable.on the snowy maps. And difficult to read on the others. Requesting a font intervention!

1) Add in Font size selection and color font setting options for both maps.
2) Add color font setting for the user's name in the Mission Summary screen after the battle
so that we can see our names more easily than looking through the list.

Screen size is a matter actually. We need to have an option to manually set default minimap and battlegrid zoom, because at current state everything is so zoomed-out I can't understand anything there, at battlegrid I can zoom-in and actually read terrain, but doing it every time in battle is pain in the ***.
I'm newb, so I have to look at battlegrid often, guess it's not such a problem for experienced players. Posted Image

See, this thread was (at least in the OP) about font SIZE, not contrast. I found the size to be very reasonable, larger would do (me, and my hardware) no good at all.

There ABSOLUTELY are severe contrast issues on some maps, and THAT is something I think definitely needs to change. With that said, bigger fonts won't hurt me, so it's not like I'd crusade against that.

Either using a color that contrasts with ALL minimap colors, or a contrasting drop shadow would fix the constrast issue, though.

Sadly, there's some here who seem bizarrely interested in painting me as some sort of demon who just wants everyone to suffer when I was only responding to the OP specifically in how the font size affects (or doesn't, as the case may be) me.

*shrugs* Whatever.

Please roll back to the old mini map I cannot make out the grid lines and the sector labels. Its is critical that these be read at a quick glance. or give us the option to pick the one we want.

I didn't mean you; I was more referring to the now heavily redacted post on the first page.

I think a lot of us want to know why they did a unnecessary "Band-Aid" on the mini-map when the previous version of the mini-map was working just fine before this recent patch came out.

Based on the hope, however unfounded, that PGI might actually be paying attention to this thread because it is in the patch feedback forum, I am linking these threads from the general discussion, which I assume they absolutely are not paying attention to.

Agreed, minimap coordinates are pretty much unreadable now. Some maps they absolutely are.

Again, why WASTE YOUR TIME on things the players aren't complaining about .. only to screw them up worse it's beyond me!?!@#!
