6 maps attack and defend = 12 + 12 with gens to destroy or defend = 24 and if you have 2 accounts IS and Clan you'll need 48
To be vaguely useful we'd need to set a preset deck for each 4 modes on every map - 24 decks total. Thats an attack, defence, counter attack and hold territory deck each for boreal, sulpherous, hellbore, grim, emerald and vitric forge. Even if PGI change the preset drop deck limit to 24 AND let us link each deck so it comes up automatically by default for the correct map and game mode, there's NO FREAKING WAY I'm going to pony up & buy 26,400MC for the extra 22 decks.
YES the community wanted and requested the ability to choose from preset drop decks.
YES the community wanted to filter their stable of battlemechs so only the faction play appropriate ones were listed when changing drop decks.
THE REASON the community wanted these features was to make drop deck selection easier in the 50 or so seconds we have once we know which map and scenario we are playing.
I play faction play as a Headhunter of Davion. We try to drop as organized 12 man groups whenever we have enough players. We elect a drop caller to direct us during matches and execute the tactics or strategies they come up with to try to gain the upper hand on our opponents. Most other units do the same. Even within HHoD our various callers use different tactics and call for different decks based on their plans, be it our general drop deck makeup or asking specific players to bring specialist mechs such as scouts, spotters, snipers, brawlers, jumpers, tanky assaults, fast heavies, std heavy brawlers, support mechs, fast jump mediums or combat lights. Removing the ability to change our drop decks in the lobby is a huge blow to the way we play the game.
After many 1000's of quick play drops I'm simply done with it - it's grown too stale for me and I don't enjoy it. The only reason I play quick play is for goodies during an event or to level a mech up for faction play. Since CW beta 1 I've only bought mechs to fill various roles in Faction play. If a mech is good for faction play, I often buy multiple copies of the same chassis after leveling it's poor cousins. Some specialist mechs such as my NARC/Tag LRM spotter raven where only called upon around a dozen times since faction play started. But I had them there ready for when a drop caller asked for one. Now I'm supposed to boil my mech stable down to max 8 or 16 mechs that are generally the most useful for faction play and ignore the others? Surely we'll all end up playing the same meta drop decks against the same opposing mechs and FP will just become too stale for even the most stalwart and die hard FP players.
Would you like me to buy a 'mech pack PGI? Ever again?
/end of rant

Once your locked in, go to the social panel. On the top there is a button to modify the drop deck.
Modify away!. Then come back in and re-select the deck you modified!
It's stupid, but it works!
Oh, so there's a work around? Cheers for that Slowth, I'll stop seething with self-entitled man-childish nerd rage and slink back into my hole meerly mildly annoyed at the cludgy interface.

I'm not a fan of bashing PGI for any previous sh*tstorms that have happened and I hate reading ''wanna buy a mech pack'' from the multitude of sheep out there who like to repeat it as if it actually means something....But Faction Warfare is truly on its last legs, we're hanging on by thread here
So please please please stop kicking us in the balls PGI, PLEASE....
Just take a look of the quality of players in this thread, Kcom Evil MJ12 etc., almost about to throw in the towel
We're still playing this mode and enjoying, on some level, its core gameplay.......Just give us something....anything to look forward to

If PGI did it by purpose to force me to pay MC to have fun and just a little bit divergence in CW i am really pissed.
If they didn't do it on purpose i advice them to get sober and reflect those "great ideas" they have obviously while being drunk.
But look at the mimimap and try to figue out the coordnates on Polar or Frozen ... somehow i have the feeling none at PGI is playing their own game ... or has some T5 seen any of them lately?

Sniper: OK Sarge, where are we going?
Sarge: Don't know son, better go with the x20 scope and a Beretta.
Sniper: Oh Kay, what about room clearance?
Sarge: No idea son, you can buy an extra weapon sling and bring a shotgun if you want?
Demo Specialist: So should I bring det cord or a TOW?
Sarge: No idea son, look I have no idea where we're going or if we're clearing a building or holding it. I can tell you we'll be in the plane for a while before we get there but untill we get there I know as much as you. Do you want to buy a magazine for the flight, only 10 bucks...
Sorry but I'm feeling a little depressed tonight
I dont think they send SF teams in with no idea what equipment to bring

Is this something that will be fixed or is this how it's going to be from now on?
Can you please bring this level of discontent to the next FW round table? Completely serious here. Derail whatever topic Russ wants to talk about.

Looks like it doesn't work for me as a single player.

I don't think I impressed Russ in the last round table but when he brought the topic of buckets up, I thought, ok, lets just go with what we have and see if we can make a dent. I don't plan on doing this ever again, but then again, I don't know if I will ever be invited back

You have totally changed my opinion of the rationality, maturity, intelligence, moral fiber, and personal hygiene of that portion of the player base which always posts complaints and predictions of doom after any change.
Well done.
After all, just think of what might have happened if a bunch of screaming forum tantrums obscured the problem behind a storm of bitter tears and rage?

I don't think you understand the gravity of this change.
I have 120 fully built mechs, moduled and ready for CW, for the express reason of being used at a moments notice.
If this change is intentional. 104 of my mechs become unusable in CW, meaning I have no reason to own more than 16 sets of modules at any given time. Meaning I wasted about 2000 hours and hundreds of dollars.
Are you starting to understand now? This problem is "quit the game" level. So get off your high horse and stop being a moron.
PGI has made a huge mistake.

Ok, then back on topic. Please explain your position on how removing the ability to easily edit dropdecks while waiting in the lobby is a good thing?
And our constructive feedback is clear as day: give us BACK the ability to easily edit dropdecks while waiting in the lobby.

Because when you're choosing between 145 mechs, I'd still buy the extra dropdecks just to have a decent starting point to jump from (hot offense, hot defense, cold offense, cold defense). Why we'd need to edit? Because sometimes the drop caller wants a couple ERLL snipers, but I don't normally keep that in my deck. Because we're trolling on a boreal defense and need a narcing mech and a dozen LRM mechs (big lulz to focus 250+ tubes on a target). Because of any number of reasons that a 12 man team needs to operate as a team. If you're just pugging, you can make your own decisions.
As it stands right now, I don't even want to play FW because I can't adapt. I can't use my stable of mechs. And I sure as hell don't want to be forced into just choosing between two very vanilla decks.

When that door opens you may be sixty feet under water with a five mile swim ahead of you or getting ready to jump at 15-k feet. Your Op area may be mountains, deserts, or McMurdo in winter... Whatever the job, wherever we are, for however long we're there, you must be ready.
Good luck.
