Are the IIC variants 'Clan' mechs, or modified IS ones?
Also, can they mount Clan weaponry as well as IS?
Lastly, Omnipod usage or not?

Just want to wrap my head around the tech.

Thanks, ahead of time, for providing the facts about this subject.

Peace - Out

IIc are clan mechs, but they don't have omnipods as they're from earlier in the clanner tech development. Clan weapons only far as I know.

They are Clan.
They can use IS std engines, but have to use clan versions of XL motors.

And if they are available for MC or C-Bills in the store you can check them out in detail in the mech lab. Click on the mech, then over to the right, under the mech picture will show mech stats. Click on the View in Mech Lab button. It will allow you to change load outs on the mech to see how it can be equipped, though the loadouts can not be saved though at that time.

Lorewise, these are refits of Inner Sphere mech designs with Clan tech, being used by second line units for less than glorious tasks such as garrison duty.

In terms of MWO, these mechs behave like IS battlemechs: You can change engines and install upgrades such as Endo Steel as you like, but you can't change Omnipods, so you are limited to the chassis' hardpoints as they come.

IIc mechs use clan equipment, as the Posters before me wrote,

The IIC Mechs are Clan designs inspired by some of the designs they braught with them on leaving the IS, they are not IS Mechs but rather completely new Clan Mechs inspired by the classic IS designs,
in many cases IIC Mechs are of significantly different tonnage to the original, a 15 ton difference is common.

In lore there are some IS Mechs refitted with Clan Tech, usualy denoted by an (c) on the end, of course if those were introduced that would cause a lot of confusion with the (c) mening Champion Mech in MWO

IIC mechs are Clan Battlemechs, not Omnimechs. As such, have no access to Omnipod customisations.

But that also means they are fully customisable in terms of equipment.

They use only Clan weaponry, but can use either STD Engines or Clan XL Engines.

Thank you all for your informed responses.

So, I understand that these are actually Clan associated battlemechs.
They utilize all clan components, with the exception of the standard IS engine as an option.
No omnipods due to their early design, which allows for more customization, similar to their IS counterparts.
And finally their weight may vary from the IS mech with the same designation.
I can also assume there may be some difference in slots and hardpoints.

Great feedback folks.

(Technically those are supposed to be Clan standard engines.. fact is Clans stopped using standard engines aside from the old designs and thus never 'improved' the standard engine.

Hardpoints are usualy diferant, but can be identical, e.g. The most varients of the Marauder IIC will bot have balistic hardpoints, while the Griffin IIC (not yet announced) is almost identical to its IS counterpart in terms of loadout and capabilities except for being 15 tons lighter

That the IIC's are similar to IS originals applies for the current ones in the game. Some of the remaining ones are much more radical departures.

The Phoenix Hawk IIC is almost twice the weight of the original at 80 tons. In terms of speed and weapon loadout, it resembles a beefed-up Shadow Hawk, with identical speed through 400XL engine and heavy guns in side torsos.

The Shadow Hawk IIC, then, goes down to 45 tons from 55 tons, and ironically is rather similar to an IS Phoenix Hawk.
