Fine. Then we keep Ghost Heat, certain 80+-point combinations of weapons remain Perfectly A-OK(!), whilst firing 35 points of Sphere MLs causes you to spontaneously combust, Clans get both simultaneously More and Less pigf***ed than the Sphere at the same time, it still takes rookies six months to figure out why Ghost Heat says you can dump ninety laser damage on someone no problemo bruh but firing two autocannons together means you explode, Ghost Heat is still a completely U.I.-free 'feature', oh and also people will be right back to complaining about TTK, alphas, and all the garbage they've been complaining about for the last seventeen years this time tomorrow.

What's the solution, Scarecrow? If it isn't ED, what is it?

Here's a hint: if your answer, in any way, includes the word 'convergence', your answer is bad and you should feel bad. Just to head off the inevitable at the pass.

Link medlas to llas??

3 llas 6 medlas limit, if youre fire 3 llas youre fine, if you fire 6 medlas youre fine. if you fire combination youre limited to 3...

True enough. Probably won't be read.
I'm been on a break from MWO for about 2 years and i can't say i'll miss it much if things keep going this way.

Quite clearly, you haven't been away your posting ;)

I held high hopes for this new system initially, imagine, one general rule and easy to understand.

It quickly turned in a mess of special cases and exceptions on top of a set of quite biased weapon changes.

Probably the final nail in this coffin for me, I am waiting to see how it turns out but without any real expectation..

Mechanically, having a convergence system as most people understand it is impossible. You can simulate convergence, though, and such a system would work well for MWO. Such a system is how you balance and differentiate different ways to do damage - PPFLD, vomit, splat, etc...

But that has absolutely nothing to do with the heat scale. We're here to address the heat scale.

The fundemental flaw in the MWO heat system is that it does not utilize the mechanics or tuning of the system it's based on, but the weapons do. This has long resulted in a de-syncing of mech weapons and the system that was designed to curb them. The goal, if at all possible, should be to emulate that system where at all possible.

Energy Draw actually adds some of the necessary mechanics to make this work, and I've posted this in a few threads here. I'm actually going to do a full write-up with examples here soon, because I feel like it's the solution people are looking for. For all intents and purposes, you're merely tying the ED meter to heat instead of damage, are only applying the "penalty" to the heat scale (rather than the heat itself, which is now handled by the ED meter directly), and are making the heat scale smaller and universal for all mechs. The capacity is tied to the number and type of sinks on your mech, and thus the system takes the particulars of your build into account.

I'll expand in the full write up, but this is a system that does exactly what PGI wants to do, but is much much easier and without any of the glaring flaws or massive rulesets.

It's also a full-on replacement for the entire heatscale system, rather than just a band-aid.
