So far I've played during two different time of days on crimson and both are horrendous. One (the darker one) actually made my head/eyes hurt.. something about the colors.. it's like looking at a negative.

Why do you insist on touching things the player base is not concerned about? You have limited resources so I can't understand this. Stop ruining old maps and make new ones.

You can't even see the domination circle in Frozen City and other white maps.. barely visible on tourma as well .. lol.. gg... try playing ur own game...

Do I sound bitter? That's what happens when u mess with my lights.

TOO MUCH DETAIL!!. I have to always move in partial zoom or the entire picture just crawls with all the little details. Back it off or go back to the old map. CS used to be one of my favortites. Whils your at it dial back the detail on the minim map as well. Cat even read the co'ords now.

Not just the Crimson Map, but same for other maps that have time of day changes....my eyes have to keep adapting to the change of lighting condition, my eye sight get tired because of this.
Question to PGI...why must the time of day changes within just a 15min match? Can't you just set the time of day at one particular time say "night" time and stick to it until game ended? When it is noon time then stick to it for the next 15 min.

Now I am keep avoiding maps that has time of day changes. Just hate it.

Help our eyes please.

I agree with this.
Yes it looks totally artsy and your guys were probably very proud of themselves for implementing something so rad looking. It has a negative impact on gameplay and the PLAYER, though.
As mentioned above, the changing light levels are bad for our eyes and on top of that it is a serious immersion break.
As humans we're not used to this kind of lighting change from the sky, on a biological level. It feels weird.
Please reign in your artistic "pride" and stop this nonsense.

To clarify: I'm not talking about the different times and light levels the maps start with. I'm talking about the rapid CHANGE of those times...

Am I the only that thinks it _looks_ amazing? And yeah while the light levels changing can make it harder to snipe - it adds a dynamic element to the game, and its the same for everyone - so maybe just get over the fact its a little trickier to see at extreme ranges and work with it...

The minimap was my main gripe - when first implemented and it didnt rotate I had to play with an emergency sick bag by the computer, then they fixed that, and also fixed the scale, I still wasnt particularly happy with the level of terrain detail in the minimap, but now it looks like its improved now to a mini map that was better than the original... OK i have only played for an hour or so on the new patch, but to me it's looking like a good improvement!

Now hopefully they allow us to easily edit the drop decks while in lobby and its a damn fine addition to the game :-)

Agreed. TOD should stick to one setting and not transition.. makes more sense for such a short period of play.

After a few runs at Crimson I can say:
-slight sepia effect going on
-purple hue
-day time makes colors look blah (just like it does at Viridian, by the way)

just had a run there, i guess midday. the color was all washed out, even the inside of my cockpit. hud was normal though so not a monitor issue

Working as intended.. can you believe this was approved? Yet another classic map ruined.

the bad light, washed out look at crimson seems to be a constant. every time i drop there it looks the same. and the frame skips that are bogging it down makes the map very unpleasant. it's need some sort of correction.

heat and nightvision are terrible, so why implement day-night cycle on every map to promote these. do you hope to increase the TimeToDie because ppl just cant see? misjudgement all over the place like with the useless, timeconsuming and annoying sounding dropship sequences...

There are some threads on the dynamic time of day. It is ridiculous to go from dark to full sun in like 5 min.

When you say dynamic, do you mean it still plays out the exact same way as it did before? When you mean dynamic, do you mean it still has the same points of interest in the same spots every match? When you say dynamic, do you mean it's still 12vs12 every match or 4v4 in scouting? When you say dynamic, what do you mean what exactly? Toggle night vision and heat constantly is not dynamic! There is no cloudy days, there is no weather effects, the sky simply changes the lighting...... and in an extreme way. We should just have the 4 maps of the same Morning, Noon, Dusk, Pitch Black. and then be randomized. Matches last what minutes? Maybe 10 at most rarely the full allotted time, and even then it's extreme light changes. Just because it's the same for everyone in the match, does not make it right or by all means good.

I tell you what though, I don't play (Like i usually play) when I'm disgusted at something. Any of these maps that have gotten this, I dislike... It's not I don't like the maps, some of them I LOVE! It's the frustration it invokes, of just trying to play. Games are supposed to be fun, I know we cant always have fun when it's loosing or teams don't mesh together, or arguments ensue. But now there is frustration of ARRRRG what the hell am I shooting at? Or Getting shot from? Or I cant's see a damn thing. Even the vision's have gotten worse. It's liek they just don't want the gameplay to be fun, and engaging the player at all. They want to invoke a pure chaos, and frantic of war itself. WAR IS NOT FUN! GAMES SHOULD BE!

And the changes to the mini map do the same thing! It's a frustrating experience to read the AA small transparent text on a detailed map with variations of colors and shading. The numbers are always under the mech indicators, they took away direction icons for friendlies, and added them back in a crappy way for enemies only, and only if you have a special mech. The corner of a square when the icons are square is not a good design change. When ppl play the game like they do they are meshed together to it's very hard to read map corids, and even see what dir they facing. Due to the nature of the ICONS themselves, and how they are layered, and sized. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY WE EVEN NEED ENEMY ORIENTATION, AND NOT FRIENDLY???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I'll keep saying it and don't care what ppl think of me for it. There is a reason why other games have the playerbase they do, it's not because of the title or content. It's because it's a fun game. How do you think indie game take off like they do? They look like utter S&^% but the game play is fun as hell!

(Feel like I had to add this, it's not....eh whatever. The only reason why I was playing as of late, was to just prove a point. And show my name on some boards with possibly the crappiest assult, or one of them at least! It's was the worst experience of my life ( I also had 3 teeth pulled that same week! That was funner! Should of heard me on coms I sounded like a mentally challenged kid. Well more so then I usually do anyways) LOL, but hey there was Elvis music! So whatever!)

to summarize it what makes my gameplay impact on crimson:
before this patch: stable minimum 60 fps (high 80s to 90 most of the time) at least on crimson.
this patch: 32 FPS, laggy slideshow sometimes, very hard to see anything.

STOP RUINING MAPS. If it looks good in preview doesnt mean it looks good in gameplay or plays good.
if i cant hit a thing with a 32GB RAM R9 390-X overclocked 8 core in this game because of laggy 32 FPS, something is rotten.

Mech: Locust Pirates Bane, just fore the record. firing in full movement, circling buildings. try that as a test setup pls, when you judge maps, PGI.

Yep, the FPS issues outweigh the eye candy I am afraid. I didnt feel this map needed a revamp really. It's nice it did but at least test the FPS issues. Virdian suffered the same fate but looks better IMO. But the fps drop really hurts.
