Are you telling everyone a Locust 1V with only 1ML and 2MGs should explode when it alpha strikes?!!! Posted Image

According to some people, that would be a good way to balance light mechs. I can see it now: "PGI, please make the Arctic Cheetah have a 50% chance for its lasers to reflect off surfaces and hit itself! We need all light mechs to suck! They shouldn't be fighting, they should only be scout units!"

To get this back on track, here is my complaint: The Awesome was built around 3 PPCs. No other mech in MW:O was built to do that. YET, the Awesome is getting penalized, not because it is an Awesome that comes stock with 3x PPCs, because other players are putting 3+ PPCs on mechs not designed to do so. This is happening because PGI decided to give the community creative license on how to alter builds and do so with the only limitations being the type and number of hard points. So, fast forward 5 years from Alpha and they're introducing a second version of a heat penalty system to curb players from boating heavy energy weapons/vast quantities of weapons and it has, as a result, forced them to create an added penalty, on top of Ghost Heat version 2.0, to stop players from doing what they shouldn't be doing. All the while, we come full circle back to the Awesome now not being able to do what it was designed to do. NOTE: It was never supposed to fire 3, 3, 3, etc. It was designed to fire 3, then 2, then another 2, then return to the beginning of the cycle, IF you're talking about TT play.

So, the question is, why is the Awesome paying the price for the stupidity of people? It'll still be a good platform for the PPC. And, the added head penalty from PTS v2 isn't going to curb players from doing so. And, finally, it does have pro-PPC quirks (for now). But, again, the added heat penalty applied to the PPC, along with a longer cool down and the return of the 10/15 heat, shouldn't apply to a mech built around the weapon. It would be giving the Catapult an LRM penalty because douchebags that run the Golden Boy like to chain spam LRM5s.

HELL YEAH! I do concede that the explosion would be tiny though.

They bumped the energy draw of PPCs to 12 and reverted the prior PPC heat buffs from a few patches back. Now, the only mech in the game that was intended to carry 3x PPCs can't actually use 3x PPCs because of GH 2.0 (again). Why is it that the meta-***** community keeps screwing over a mech that, hit boxes aside, might actually be decent if folks would just stop being douchey?

Did you even try a 3 PPC awesome on the PTS?

UPDATE!

Ok, so now we know the crybaby didn't even bother to test it! I just took a mastered 9M into caustic on the PTS and alpha'd with 3 ERPPCs and only went to 58% heat -- and cooled quickly. If Fire the 2 torso PPCs and fire the 1 arm PPC right after i only go to 44% heat.

Jeeze this is what is wrong with these forums -- people cry without frigging taking the time to actually test.

Actually in testing this its kinda nice under the new system .. drops heat fast and that speed tweak on the PPCs make for an easy shot! I am going to buy some when power drain comes out!

Yes I could fire 3 then 2 then wait a few seconds and fire 2 again.... so stop crying.

That's awesome.

B-b-b-but what about all those people who say alphas weren't the primary firing mode for mechs in Battletech?

Silly fan fiction. If I am not alpha striking, why are all my shots at a moving mech based off the same range :P

Probably should post your build or that's potentially a remarkably pointless test.... on that map we also need to know exactly where you were standing. ;)

This is directly from Lore:

"To handle the tremendous heat load of its weaponry the Awesome carries twenty-eight heat sinks, although even these can be overwhelmed; most pilots only fire two of their PPCs per salvo to reduce the strain."

At energy draw of 12, seems like you can absolutely fire two (2) PPCs per salvo without penalty.

Facts. I like facts.

FFS, now you're not even wrong.

#1 Just by the degree of quirks, the Awesome actually runs 3PPCs better than most mechs in the game.
#2 With ED2.0 a 3PPC alpha generates 36 points of heat. Now add quirks and efficiencies and your Awesome runs much cooler than a lot of laser mechs that are used right now.
#3 3PPC builds are worse off under ghost heat. Yet, you whine about ED like it does something bad.

Actually I was running around but NOT in the middle calderra. About to run some 4V4 with the awesome. Be easier to get matches if less people would cry like babies on the forums and actually log into the PTS server and test things out.

Nice having PGI give you 2B cbills and 2M MC and 2M GXP so you can do whatever you want.

EDIT ________

On the Awesome, in the caldera of Terra therma I could:
1 alpha (3 erppc) followed by 4 volleys of 2 ERPPCs before shutting down.... YEP Awesome is hozed ... NOT!

I think its hilarious you guy are stating the quirks at 30% and you think PPC's aint broke d*ck

If you need to buff it by more then .25% there is something wrong with the weapon.
