You're right, OP, a lot of people don't agree with you. Count me among them. Why should anyone tolerate you wanting to prolong your own survival in a match (with no real consequences for losing a mech) solely for the sake of doing so to no meaningful end? How are you entitled to be carried more than anyone else? You can still draw fire. You can still spot. A stick is still a perfectly good decoy. What I see here is basically a rage quit on your behalf.

Moral standards aside, is also a clear violation of the code of conduct. Unless it served a tactical end, I would just as readily report you as anyone else here.

When you join a match you are agreeing to the time limit of 15 minutes. If you dont like that, dont join a match.

When you join a match you are agreeing to abide by the COC and TOS. If you don't like that, don't join a match.

Even without weapons, you can still be a useful distraction / meat shield.

What if you're the only one left on your team?

This comes up every few months. Not sure how to educate folks about the COC but hiding just to prolong a match and not die, is in fact against the COC. Maybe make a "main points of the COC" a part of the academy or something, and actually mention stuff like this?

He wasn't the only one left when he ran and hid. There were at least 3 other mechs still fighting. And the score was about even, around 8 to 8 I think.

Since it was never mentioned in the OP, what kind of match was it?

Extremely selfish. Whether you have the right or not, you are wasting, potentially, 23 other people's time and decreasing their enjoyment of the game. You shouldn't even have to ask if this is okay, it's basic etiquette.

It really just gets down to purpose, in my opinion. If you're trying to Bugs Bunny the other team somehow, that's one thing. But at least make that clear to YOUR team.

I get a kick out of watching Stick Shenanigans, myself, on occasion.

But someone powering down just because they don't want to face the music? Unless their team is alright with this, that's like refusing to uncurl from around the football after getting tackled, for no other reason than they didn't like getting tackled.

Admittedly, I can think of a few legitimate reasons to hit 'P'. "I feel like it" just isn't one of them for me.

On a side note, Mystere, I like seeing your thoughts and questions more and more. :)

In Skirmish, there is the tricky circumstance of holding numbers and if remaining in combat would only grant the enemy an easy kill. Anyhow...

As noted earlier in this thread, the Code of Conduct describes how it is not a violation to hide if it is in service toward a combat advantage or win.

However, if a player is hiding in a match that is effectively lost or is progressing toward a loss if without action, please inform that player of the circumstances. If that player is recognized to be hiding for no other purpose than to prolong that match, please report that player with the in-game player context menu's report function or with an email to moderation@mwomercs.com with any evidence and/or details you have available.

[mod]As the original post has claimed an abstention from dialogue,
this thread predominantly acts as bait for insults and name & shame to the original poster.
