After moving to my college and switching from my desktop to my laptop i brought with me I wanted to try playing some mwo. My desktop is windows 7 and everything works. However I have a huge problem with my Windows 10 latop.
I downloaded mwo through steam, started it up all fine. saw it was very low res and widowed and wanted to change it. I switched it to windowed fullscreen and 1920x1080 res. After applying the changes my screen went and stayed black and it was only the mwo cursor on screen I could only hear the music.
So i closed mwo in task manager and tried starting it up again. Logged in and right as i did it went to the same black screen with music and the mwo cursor.
After a few reinstalls through steam not working i tried doing it through here and it still didn't work. I even tried using the mwo repair tool and it didn't redo the resolution setting so it still didn't work.
Looking for help if anyone else has this problem or if it's been fixed in other threads, please let me know!

Found the fix. in the non-steam mwo launcher. click the gear at the top right for the repair tool. BUT make sure the 'delete local profile' is on! that is what will reset the resolution so you can get in game.
I then just changed the settings one at a time and saved for each one and didn't get the error again. hope it helps!

Are you using Steam? Validate your files. Then drill down to your saved game folder and delete the attribute.xml file. That has your game's settings.
C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles\[the profile you need]\
Below is what the launchpad for non steam users look like before hitting PLAY to go to the log in screen.

Short version try ALT+ENTER at the black screen to go into full screen mode. For some reason windowed mode is a black screen after login in.
Long version.
I had the same issue. I tried a lot of the stuff suggested, downloaded this and that. deleted user/pilot files. Adjusted my graphic settings. ran repair tool from the client and verify via steam None of these worked. I still had a black screen after login with a mouse pointer and music.
If your game has a black screen after login and you have a mouse pointer and can hear music. It is most likely because its started or opened in window mode and for some reason this gives you a black screen. The simple solution is to hit ALT+ENTER to go into full screen mode and there you have your game back.

Thank you guys. I also had this problem and I reinstalled the game. On hotel internet. It only took 14 hours.
Clearing the personal settings fixed it. Wish I knew about that 14 hours ago.
