ED is apparently designed to limit boating and high alpha.

But what about the battlemechs who are specially designed for boating ?

I am a Nova-prime pilot, and i belong to the 1% who play it stock, with the 12 ERML. Because i think removing ERML or replacing them with ERSL is a waste of potential for that Omnimech. Posted Image

Here some cool gameplay video, with some mistakes, among other glorious moments, featuring my beloved, fully mastered Nova-Prime :

As you can see, it's pretty hot. Fire must be timed right or you die in this mech.

I am worried that the ED system will ruin the Nova, and the other similar mech.

I did some tests. In this video notice the alpha strike without, and with ED.
Basicaly, with ED you can't fire more than 6 ERML in 2 succession. It's actually way hotter than Ghost Heat. Posted Image

The only way to make use of the 12 lasers is to fire everything in chain-fire like a gatling laser.
But i don't know if it's efficient... so i am worried.

What do you think ? Just don't tell me to put ERSL instead, i dont care. The mech is designed for ERML and should be playable with the stock loadout. Posted Image
That ED update should not make that chassis obsolete.

Chain-fire is the intention of ED in the first place. You can get some nasty DPS with 12ERML, much more than people trying to alpha, although you need to keep your front exposed for that damage. I did a test battle with Tiantara, and it's somewhat easy to control heat using chain-fire, although you can't get overzealous, or else you risk overheating.

The stock Nova was known for being an extremely hot mech, its weapons produces twice the heat that its heatsinks can reliably dissipate, so it wasn't designed for 12ERML any more than it is for 12SPL, it has a far more niche role than most other Omnimechs have.

I reduced my Nova Prime to 8 CERM Lasers and run 2 groups of 4 - left and right arm. I play it this way in GH and in ED and as I've posted in this forum, it runs cooler and you can alternate your fire groups longer in ED than with GH on live.

Split your lasers into 3 groups of four lasers and fire at 1.4 second intervals to avoid the penalties from energy draw. Your burst damage is significantly limited by energy draw, but your sustained dps should be slightly higher than live owing to the changes to clan double heat sinks.

Nova will benefit, if anything, from ED system. You have to fire in groups anyways now ED system forced everyone to do the same.

I wonder why you never shot the 3x-ERML group if you set it up. Instead of using 6x-ERML group or spamming chainfire, try to shoot 3x-ERML group one after another, or (as others said) 4x-ERML group.
